Also front fogs are not LED

Yes, just checked our June 24 model, Halogen fogs, not sure if that knock out the 'cornering' option?

Either way, I feel cheated, 50 year old tech (admittedly it works) still being fitted.......clearly shows up as 'different' when illuminated below the LED headlamps......

In the latest Skoda Karoq brochure, I wonder why in the options list a price is shown when it's fitted as standard to all across the range?

The different colour is better for fog than the bright white. I was looking to fit high power LED in those positions as driving lights, not fog, as I rarely see fog here. However, it isn't worth the hassle.

it does seem to be an attempt to 'encourage' customers to upgrade to higher specs.

I looked at 20205 model year specs and was disappointed that standard items had disappeared.

Presently looking at the Kia offering

Some good deals about at the minute. Tempted to upgrade our June 24 SE-L to a Sportline but I’m put off by the glass roof and its potential to give trouble - and to be fair we bought the SEL to see out (certainly mine) days without having to buy one of the EV offerings.

Curiously, the insurance on a new Sportline is coming up somewhat cheaper than the 1 year old SEL, £240 v £290……?

Have you had a new quote on the SE?. Insurance prices seem to have dropped this year.

Just had renwals through for our Octavia and Superb.

Octavia 1.2TSi Last year £198, renewal £158.

Superb 2.0TSi L&K Last Year £356, renewal £319

Aviva recently renewed my 280 for a very reasonable £72 lower than last @ £204 (full NCD) - I expected a similar sort of reduction on the Karoq, especially as it's in my wife's name and she's still building a NCD but no, last year £333 this year £338.

I have asked Sergei the Meercat and his mates and they came up with the £290 yet only £240 if we trade up to a new Sportline?

A law unto themselves Insurance companies........

I wonder if VarioFlex read seats have to have the roller blind type parcel shelf to accommodate the sliding & reclining features of the VarioFlex seats. The backrest on the folding rear seats have a fixed position and the rigid parcel shelf must be cheaper too.

No, the seat end of the roller parcel shelf is fixed in position. There is a short flap on the sear side but if the seats are upright there is a gap. I will do some photos tomorrow.
The roller cover is just cloth so unlike the hard one used with the 60/40 seats is less sound damping. However, I am told that this is only slightly noticeable in the back seats.

Certainly some odd things going on with insurance. My current provider refused to quote on the SEL Edition 1.5 auto with no explanation, so I had to cancel & re-insure. Direct Line wouldn't quote either. That's coming from a 2015 110 TSI Polo with broadly similar performance to the Karoq but without the current mandated safety features

Went through Confused & Top Cashback & the best policy from a known brand was £371 with Aviva. Full no claims, no accidents, no other drivers in rural North Essex. Hopefully £45 cashback to come off that later down the line.

That is strange

As The Karoq is one of the more popular Škoda's and 10s of thousands on UK roads, it must be insurable (in the UK at least). My insurers LV had no problems with my 2024 (23mfr) SE L 1.5 manual.

Probably because the SEL "Edition" is not in their system so computer says no.

We recently moved from a 2023 manual 1.5 TSi SE L to a 2025 DSG 1.5 TSi Sportline Edition and saw a 15% fall in insurance premium.

My insurance company told me the newer car attracted a lower premium due to additional 'safety' features (presumably the driver aids?).

I used to have a Toyota Avensis SE, which was a limited edition (which Toyota ran on for a few years!), and insurer couldn’t find it on their list, so just insured it as a GL, or whatever the nearest equivalent was - no problem.

Not that as I had to manually enter the details while waiting for the reg number, & Edition models were there. Then tried again once the reg picked the correct car but still no go. Only thing I can think of is they were by default, valuing the car at even less than the current showroom stock deals, so maybe they didn't like my retail valuation?

Maybe - but our SEL has the speed limit chime business the autobrake and the 'lane departure' nuisance.......can't see the Sportline has any others unless the automatic cruise control counts?

Depends when your car was registered - my 2023 SE L was thankfully devoid of such driver 'aids'.

The addition of DCC, Matrix LED headlights, pan roof, powered tailgate and a slightly more configurable dashboard make up for the marginal (+5%) cost of the new car though 👍

Had the same when insuring our Sportline Edition. The insurance company told me the registration number hadn't filtered through to their system.

They did insure it though and gave me a sizeable (15%) and unexpected refund over the cost of covering the SE L👌
