My skoda app. failed

Featured Replies

I am the owner of an iphone 7 that works very well and that I dot want to give up.Unfortunately it is not compatible with ios 16. Last week I ran my skoda app version 8.2.0, now it has done an automatic upgrade to version 8.3.1 running ios 16, incompatible with my phone. I wasn`t asked for consent for this, so I can`t run the app anymore. Question:how and where can I install again the old version 8.2.0 ?

What does the MySkoda App do? I've never bothered to activate it.

For me it has the following 5 uses:

1) Ability to remotely check that it’s locked. Very useful for those “did I lock the car” nagging doubts when you are some distance from the car, avoids a long walk back to check only find it’s locked!

2) It contains a tracker so you can see where your car is. Useful if stolen or you can’t find/remember where it’s parked.

3) Entering destinations into the sat nav. Using the app, which uses goggle maps, is much easier and then upload it to the car.

4) It contains the history of all the driving that gets displayed on infotainment screen.

5) Digital Certificate with service history.

When I started writing this post I thought it was 3 uses but it expanded to 5 very quickly.

If you have a backup of your iPhone made using iTunes on a PC or Mac, it may be easy enough to install an older version of an app. If you have never taken an iTunes backup, you are probably out of luck unless you are technical enough to do difficult things such as jailbreaking the phone (and if you were, you wouldn't be asking here).

Instructions here for the iTunes method:

How to downgrade apps in iOS and Android?

Learn why corporates sometimes feel the need to downgrade apps, the different ways to downgrade apps in iOS and Android devices and the need for a UEM.

Do I need any subscription to use the MySkoda app? Will it work with my 2018 Karoq Edition or would I need the car to be connected to the internet somehow? Thanks.

On pre 2024 cars the app access was free for the first 12 months, later cars I think it’s free for 3 years. After that you pay annually for subscriptions. There are two services: Care Connect which links to the driving data and gives you remote access to the status of the car including its current location., Infotainment Online which provides map updates, traffic, route calculation etc. I pay for both. When I just checked in the App it says you can try the services free for 3 months.

One thing I find it useful for is I can sit in from of my computer with a large screen, use Google Maps and then when I have worked out where I am going, enter it on the My Skoda App in comfort and then transfer it to the car when I am ready to go. Very much faster than f'ing about trying to do a route on the sat nave with a car full of people saying why aren't we are moving yet?

The other thing is the traffic info on the maps updates quite fast (every few minutes?) and can recalculate routs on the fly then ask if I want the new route or not.

The Driving data, speeds distances, fuel use, MPG etc is fun if you are a nerd/engineer/car nut or a bloke.

The ability to lock is not something I have needed yet, but it is useful.

The tracking is also good. However, it will also let you flash the lights and toot the horn. Again, after trying it once just to see I have not used them, but I can see many scenarios where they could be useful.

Costs... they run discounts to entice you to sigh up/renew so have a look at renewal a few times but don't do it and see if you get a discount.

I bought my 2023 Karoq as a pre reg (March) in August 2023, and had irregular “over air” updates. Never joined anything, until I wanted to pay off HP (not on PCP), when I registered and got the final figure, and all paid. Not sure if I am entitled to full three years, or just the two, but it has not shown any updates since February. Never been asked to subscribe to anything. Never bothered with any of it, with the Octavia. The HP came with two free services, but only deal offered, by dealer, is discount on third service, but may sell before then (to help fund house move)!

In the app go to Profile -> Paid Services The tere is Powerpass Plan, then Skoda Connect Services

You should have :
Care Connect - Remote Access

Infotainment services.

Both entries will show an active until date. tapping either will show you what you get on each.

Thanks - will have a look later.
