New car time!

Featured Replies

@croquemonsieur @pinkpanther I have a Nextbase camera set up which shows 30, 50 and 60 with Speedo readings of 32, 47, 56. My Nextbase camera doesn't affect DAB reception. You can greatly improve bass, treble sounds by streaming Spotify through Bluetooth,( rather than Android) in media settings and volume in audio settings to loud.

  • Hi pink panther , That experience must have been concerning to say the very least. If I was in your position I would report the issue to Skoda UK and see what they say.

Interestingly, the storage box on the dashboard is missing in my 74 reg 1.5 SE-L. I also have SKODA written across the steering wheel rather than the badge, so I guess my car was just on the cusp of some of the recent small design changes.

PS: prompted by looking at your comprehensive initial post: I haven't been able to establish what my infotainment online lifespan entitlement is yet - I'm sort of hoping it will be 3 years as I really do like to have updated maps and live traffic in particular. Also - I'd have thought that the connect functions for service etc would have been a lifetime thing. How else do we access records or change dealerships for service and so on? Perhaps some of the functionality is always there (?) I will have to ask my local dealer how I access these things if they do expire at some point.

I suspect (hope) that some kind soul will advise/correct me on here. Please bear with me folks - I will get there eventually....!

My 74 reg SE-L still has the storage box and the badge on the steering wheel. I think it was built mid to late Aug 74. It was already in transit when I ordered it mid Sept.

Thanks for the prompts. I had a look at the myskoda app which states that connect and infotainment are active to Jan 2028. They both also say "try free for 3 months" but I trust that the active until date is the key one. I wonder what the cost to get map updates and traffic will be when they do expire.

Also re the dash cam interference with DAB radio observation. I too have had a roadangel dash cam fitted. Works very well and there is no impact on DAB reception at all.

Crikey isn't that curious. We seem to have pretty much the same car but different specs....

Many thanks for your advice👍

I only recently noticed just how much better the Audio from Spotify sounds through Bluetooth rather than Android Auto - a much fuller sound 👍

My new Road Angel Dashcam (4k Ultima) has the option to disable the Wi-Fi, but nonetheless continues to attenuate DAB reception in the Karoq.

Switching off the Dashcam sees DAB reception immediately improve.

Frustrating as a similar Road Angel Dashcam (older the model with no facility to switch off Wi-Fi) has zero impact on DAB reception in a newly acquired VW e-up! 😬

I have never had the connected services, as I did not buy the car(s) new, one being ex demo, and one pre registered, so as second owner, this was not either already enabled, or not mentioned at time of sale. As coming up to 3 years old in March, might have to look into it, as would be up for renewing (if I have it) after 3 years.

Not that I recall - I must check the Dashcam footage👍

Nonetheless it came as a surprise the car would Autonomously switch to a target speed of 100 MPH on a UK Motorway.

I had this once. Was very scarey, but luckily only for a few moments. (It was in my old octy)

It was worse when I was doing 70, and then the ACC went down to 10mph (I think it must have seen a motorway roadworks sign)
