Featured Replies

Hi

I would like to ask for your opinion and advice.

I own superb estate 2016 1.6 diesel

When I was driving I went over few pot hols and errors pop on (photo attached)

On top of that my central locking star opening and closing and error airbag com on .

After switching of the car and then start again errors gone except airbag

Did any of you have this issue ?

Can I sort this or i have to go to skoda

Thank you in advance

A serious answer can only be obtained via a reasonable diagnostic tool and the error memory

Thank you

The first thing I would think of is perhaps a bad or poor or intermittent electric or electronic connection, wire/cable, both live or earth side.

Always first check is battery terminals and main earth connections, or even loose battery in it's housing - particularly if any recent work has been done to the car particularly if involving the battery or it's area or any earths or in the area of earths.

Scan tools also need a solid power supply particular if they power from the car.

The fact that these errors came with going over potholes might suggest something loose somewhere, all electric and electronic connections and wires want to be clean, secure and protected. One error in the computer systems can affect other even "unrelated" systems - as often found when the car battery is allowed to go too low in state of charge for the computer systems, the headlights might seem bright enough and engine very easily start but still be too low for the computers same can be for corroded, contaminated, loose connections and wires.

Or perhaps something is rubbing against connections or wirers, or water perhaps getting in. You could also consider this and above for the computer modules.

So many possibilities that you need to start at the basics and go on methodically.

Thank you for help

Going for diagnostic shortly then I will know what is wrong

Talk to the mechanic about that issue.

He quickly stated that issue can be battery

As I chang orginal on to new one in January (not enough power on new one )

I will update post when issue will be resolved

If there was an error in 'coding' the new battery then it might not be charging correctly - but that'd be all the time not just with shock vibration(s).

Bear in mind a diagnostic isn't just plugging in a scan tool and just following the report or deleting error code (though it can be these sometimes checking and cross referencing is still required). Computers ain't always right and no errors codes doesn't mean there aren't problems with the car.

Good luck, let us know how you get on.

Hi

I'm hoping that diagnostic will tell me where is this issue or at least narrow it to something like connector, wire, sensor any thing that can be checked

Will update you when problem will be sorted

It may depend on who's doing the work as to how much things are narrowed down, hopefully if the cause is found it'll also be sorted, might turn out to be something quite simple too if you're lucky.

Hi all errors cleard just airbag still oon and this is what's on

So some wires issue as all airbags showing faults will look under the bonnet ower the weekend

Screenshot_20250724_205247_OBDeleven.jpg

I'm confused (not unusual at all) how come the airbags were left after diagnostics, was the scan tool used of the level that could delete/reset the airbags or did you just ask for diagnostics and not repair? Perhaps they were deleted/reset and returned?

Diagnostic was done but dint deleted the errors on airbag

This was done in "local garage" with in 5 minutes as a check didn't go to skoda yet

Sorry for confusion

I should do this post in 2 diferent subjects

The thing I meant is why weren't the airbag errors deleted, is more work needed, or is the scan tool used not capable, or is there an existing fault to only airbags wiring, connectors, module?

VWŠkoda Dealerships are often an expensive way of dealing with such issues, especially if they are going to charge you some high price for "diagnostics" which are only plugging in their scan tool to tell you what you already know that you have a reported issue/error code for "short to ground".

First result on Google search -

"Short to ground happens when the current flows through the car body to ground instead of flowing through the intended circuit. It can happen if there is a loose connection between the wire and the car body." - https://www.arrigochryslerdodgejeepramatsawgrass.com/electrical-short-circuit-in-car-explained

HTH.

Hi

Airbag errors are perm and can not be deleted.

All this issue (as I discovered yesterday)

is made by aircon drain.

All fotwell is wet , under the seat are 3 plugs and wires( all wet )

Am I right can this be a main issue water and electricity ?

Now first I sort out the aircon drain

Dry out this wet spot

Check for rust in plugs

And then will see what's next

That's my plan 😌

Yeap, water and electric don't mix well.

Might not be rust but you need to dry out the connectors and check them for any sort of corrosion or crud, they may only need drying if they have remained wet and not dried and got wet again.

Are you sure it's air-con drain as IIRC someone else had this wetting and VWŠkoda repaired the air-con drain and the wet has returned again, yet to be posted the outcome or cause this time.

Rear doors leaks are common on the Fabia (reminds me I must sort that out on my wife's Mk3).

Good luck.

Thank you

Will try drain first

Then will check the rest step by step

I should have put they may only need drying out - and some electric contact cleaner spraying in and allowing that to fully dry.

Have a magnify glass or if you can take a photo and zoom-in to check connectors are clear and free of corrosion or crud before reconnecting.

Good afternoon

I'm putting my car to skoda garage

In 3 weeks as the problem wasn't solved by me 😀

I did what i was capable on my drive

Water still leaking on to the module from pipes above.

I clear drain for aircon, dry out footwell

Clear ground wires

I think airbag module is damage and need replacing.

Thank you all for all support and ideas

Leaking is somewhere above yellow box but I con not put my fat hands there to locate this leak photos add

I will prepare my wallet for skoda visit and let you all know what was it and the total cost

Just praying it's less then £1000

Please don't corect me in the price as I want to keep my dream alive unless it's less then that you can cheer me up
