Hazards active after locking - 2012 vrs

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've got an interesting issue, a minute after locking the car the hazards will come on. It won't stop if you unlock the car, only when you click the hazard button. I've changed the hazard switch and have ordered a new body control module (will fit and recode). Any idea what else I'm able to check? Separate to this the lights always come on when I put the ignition on which is why I'm guessing body control module?

Any advice welcome! Cheers! Colin

Have you chaged te headlight bulbs to HID? I have read of back emf from the ballasts causing problems with the BCM .

Afraid not, standard H7 bulbs. Will have a look to see if there's any ballast tests I can do to check they're good though. Cheers, Colin

If you only have the standard bulbs you will not have any ballasts which, I understand, are used to make the HID bulbs light.

Have you changed anything prior to the problems occurring?

Unfortunately I don't have the history, just purchased the car as sold as seen. Fixed a number of the problems already, just this last one to cure. Hopefully it's bcm but was hoping to test a few other things in parallel.

Current fault codes - rad fan, new one on its way. Hvac fault due to rad fan issue. Siren dead, have taken fuse 35 out and might replace in the future. New drivers door as the garage I bought it from tore it apart to get into the car after the broke the door lock and let the battery go flat. Will look to recode it at some point, but shouldn't cause the hazard issue?

Cheers, Colin

When my alarm battery started failing, that triggered the hazard lights. You could try disconnecting the alarm to see if that cures the problem.

Thanks I'll try that later this week when I get another chance to work on the car. I've removed the alarm fuse but would make sense. Cheers, Colin

Just wanted to update. New body control module sorted this issue. Now just need to recode my keys! Cheers all.
