Questions regarding the Virtual Cockpit

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Have a couple of questions regarding the Virtual Cockpit in my new Kamiq M/C, so hoping someone can help out.

Referring to the pic above:

  1. Can the Since start and Range item in the centre of the rpm and speed be changed via the steering wheel controls and if so how? Or must it be done via the Infotainment System.

  2. Is it possible to have Since start in the centre of the rpm and Since Refuelled in the centre between the rpm and the Range?

  3. Can the Trip Distance be shown in the centre of the rpm or speed, because I cannot figure out how to do it if it can.

Thanking you for your assistance.

The answer is it might be.

You'll need to do it in the infotainment, I find it easier anyway.

Go into the infotainment select something like "view one" and scroll through the options for what displays inside each dial. I found the options to be limited on mine so have reverted to classic view.

I have the Overview driving data in the middle as you can scroll through it using the knob on the steering wheel quite easily. While not exactly trip you can change the overview data to "since start" which offers similar info or you can scroll to trip. Reset Trip by holding down the rotary knob.

It would be a very good idea to show a speedometer more prominently in one of the panels I would think. No good showing fuel consumption after you lose licence for speeding LOL

The speedometer (in km) is showing on the right dial, it couldn't be any clearer.

I actually find the digital speed reading more useful than the speedo.

I do agree though that some of the views are too minimalistic.

It is just a case of messing about until you get the set-up that feels most comfortable.

Yes but very small and can get lost in all the other stuff I have mine (Digital figure) in centre of screen as have speed limit enabled and thats where it sits. At 105kph it beeps and shows a warning and so far can only get it to show in the one place. As im on a restricted licence due to age and health I cant get an offence notice or I have to buy new shoes. LOL Makes you super cautious I tell you

Cant say Ive ever been interested in consumption etc I fill it when it gets low and am too busy driving to take my eyes off the road and worry about that information. Its only valid for a second or so anyway and have found the distance to empty and amount to fill rather inaccurate so just drive . Can look at it in the garage later if its important to you

Heres all I need

Sorry, I don't understand. Where on the left, I don't see it.

On my older Aid its to the right of the gear symbol and says" trip 100.6km"

On newer cars Trip is shown where the 3 seat symbol is. (bottom row left of centre) The three seat symbol disappears after a while to be replaced by trip.

Trip is in fact not Trip but simply accumulates distance covered until you reset it.

"Since Start" accumulates data from each time you start the engine unless you've stopped for less than 2 hours. In this case it resumes data collection where it left off.

As to position of this data you can have Trip in it's default position or in the middle of the display if you select it. If you have it in the middle of the display it will still show up (smaller) in the default position.

As I said before, the display options are limited. You can't always get the info you want where you want it. The info in the centre of each dial offers the same choice left or right. The best thing to do, via the infotainment, select view 1 and play about with what shows up inside the left dial and the right dial. Then using the steering wheel control play about with what shows up between the dials. You may or may not find a combo you are happy with. Unless the option you select via infotainment is "Auto" the data you choose in "view one" will be persistent irrespective of the way you choose to see your dashboard. Same is true for how you set up "view 2"

If you select "Auto" via the infotainment then dashboard display changes depending on driving mode.

You are best to make these settings with the engine running , car in park, handbrake on. The reason for this is that during the engine start period other stuff is happening (e.g. the 3 seat symbol) that disappears after a period. Note also that engaging cruise control hides the odometer display even if you have not set a cruising speed. The point is the dashboard is dynamic rather than a static display.

Thanks @Aldfort for taking the time for this reply. My Kamiq is only a month old and I cannot recall seeing the trip info where you mention it while using "View 1", but I will double check later today. Once again thank you.

You arent mixing up trip and ODO are you as the total distance ODO is hidden by the ACC symbol if it is "enabled" and is on the right side of centre. Been lots o questions about where that has gone.

I think the trip might be presently hidden by the front turn indicator fault I presently have.

The trip info appears in classic view for sure. However the failed light warning is exactly where I would expect to see trip. It also looks like you have full ACC? That might affect what I said earlier.

I'm curious, how can you tell?

When you use ACC does a little car symbol appear in between the 2 vertical lines centre bottom of the dash?

I honestly cannot tell you.🙂 The car has only done 580 kms and I've not been anywhere to use the ACC yet.

I have a Superb so it may or may not be exactly the same. I use the right arrow (on the right hand side of the steering wheel) to change between the different virtual cockpit screens then use the left button (still on the right hand side of the steering wheel) and then use the roller button to scroll between the options you can select from between the dials.

Because if it wasnt on it wouldnt be there. look below your left stalk behind steering wheel Below that at 8 oclock is your cruise control stalk Try wiggling it and that symbol will probably go out and maybe other stuff as well like lane assist etc which is only on when ACC is on but not being used. Also you set the ACC speed using that stalk one way is up and down 10 k is 10k increase or decrease and other way is one kph alteration. I had mine with the ACC distance as the main centre display and that also is adjustable and instructions are in that book wrapped in cellophane in the glovebox LOL

@gregeeh I am fairly certain you have ACC. The lines bottom centre are not normally there if you only have Ordinary Cruise Control.

VAG use slightly different ways to show what ACC is doing depending on if you have VW, Audi, Skoda etc.

Exkiwi has provided good advice, RTFM. 😁 It takes a while to get used to these new fangled digital cockpits, the manual, while far from perfect, at least provides very strong hints about how stuff works. When you take it to get the light fixed then ask the dealer to give you a full lesson on all the controls.

I have read the manual but I was still unclear, so I thought I would ask the experts here. Is this not the correct place to do this? As for the dealer, they would not know what day of the week it was let alone anything about a Skoda vehicle. As they are the only dealer within 60kms I'm left to my own resources.

Thank you and everyone else for your input, I have learnt a lot.

I changed the virtual dash from the controls on the RH steering wheel on my Karoq.

Alright here goes. Im typing slowly so you can understand it

Get in car, press start (But dont start engine) DONT NEED ENGINE RUNNING

How to do that Dont put foot on brake

Go the right side of steering wheel and press < button

At the top of the centre of the screen options appear. Like Assist system , Navigation etc In green in mine

Roll the roller to scroll through them. Pick one by pressing roller

Use < > to change view within that option on the screen.

When and if you find satisfactory one PRESS THE ROLLER to set it

All done'

This is in a 2021 and screen is slightly different but it will probably still work the same

Next Hint

ACC or Adaptive Cruise Control

Stalk is at 8 clock on left (naturally)

Function Push it right away turns it off One pull activates it

To set speed flick atalk upwards in relation to the steering wheel till correct speed is reached. Press SET

On mine i set itto 110 and then briefly pressing the SET button on the end of the stalk can flick it back 1 k at a time to get to 105

The rocker on the top of the stalk is to set the distance you want to follow car in front Shows in dash as you adjust it

If you turn ACC off when driving just pull towards you to resume at set speed

The little button underneath sets the speed limiter and when whatever speed is set a chime sounds and a warning in the dash

This only works when ACC is off as far as I have found out

Mine is set to 105
