Constant creaking / rattling from the doors of my Kodiaq Mk2

Featured Replies

Since I had the car, every time I drove it, it has had what my wife called a rattling from the doors.

I always characterised it as a creak. As the car is otherwise so quiet (especially when on battery at slow speed) it was quite noticable.

After trying to narrow it down, I found a video on YouTube that described the issue exactly (but on a Lexus) - https://youtu.be/BoYCCckQdQs?si=Q549W00RwkRYLK9o

The guy in the video recommended applying a product to each of the door seals and claimed it pretty much cured the issue. The product he recommended was about £15, so I opted for the cheaper version at £3.82 - https://amzn.eu/d/9bGPMFX

It has worked brilliantly, and now my quiet car has become an almost silent car. If you have an annoying creak from your doors, give this stuff a try. I was very impressed.

No rattling doors, but I get a frequent creaking/squeaking dash by the HUD. Car is 2 months and 1.5k miles old, 2 month wait for a warranty appointment at local Skoda 😡😡

Hi!

Ever since I picked up my new Kodiaq MK2 from the dealer (October 2024) I've had a rattling sound from what i first thought was from the passenger dashboard but which I now think I have located to the front passenger door.

I've recorded a video of the sound which i've attached below (a bit of road noise in the background but you can hear the rattling quite clearly)

Is this sound similair to the sound you have experienced? For me it sounds like something is loose.
The sound is not constant during the drive, but it comes and goes pretty much every ride.

It drives me crazy and I have to cancel the sound through high volume music.

I've tried to get my local dealer to have a look at it but no success so far.

Hmmm... it might be!

One thing that was suggested to me is to open the window a tiny bit.... not enough that you can see its open, but just enough to allow a tiny gap between the top of the window and the window frame. If you do that and it helps, it's probably the seals.

To be honest, the stuff only cost about £3, so it has to be worth a go ... I was in the same situation as you... the creaking noise was really frustrating, but this has cured it totally.

Hi,

I think I have the same rattling sound, but on the driver's side of my Kodiaq.

I found that when I push the driver's door slightly  while driving I hear no sound.

In your case, have you tried pushing the passenger door?

Did you manage to solve the problem?

Welcome to the forum. Seems that simply or not so simple the door card needs to come of then a bit of padding, double sided tape or the likes. Draught Excluder / weather seal household tape needs applied between surfaces. Where SKODA should have had some.

Thank you for replying to my post.

I don't think it's the door card. If I push the door at the top, center or bottom while driving, I have the same effect. No sounds. Another way I can eliminate the rattling sound is by placing a cloth in the bottom door jamb before closing it. I think this creates a bit more distance between the door and the door opening. Please see the attached photo.

Have you considered it might be creaking from the seams (see my original post on this thread … it’s worth considering if you haven’t already.

You're absolutely right.

I've just bought some rubber care so I will be testing it this weekend.

I'll let you know how it goes.
