Rear Seat Belt Warning Alarm Setting

Featured Replies

Hello, do you know if it is possible to deactivate the seat belt warning sound in the rear seats? It becomes annoying, especially during short trips in the city.

Is that because your rear passengers are not wearing seatbelts or do you have something heavy on the back seats? When I carry something heavy on the back seat (like a tent) I plug "dummy" connectors in to the seatbelt clips. Since it's a safety system, I doubt it can be disabled. Hope this helps.

Try telling human passengers "put your seat belt on or get out and walk!" Dogs will probably accept being belted in after a week or so.

Short answer is no you can’t and why would you want to if you have passengers in the back seats?

You’re absolutely right, but I asked the question because I was testing an option that I thought was meant for that, and it doesn’t seem to work

It does exactly what it says on the tin; it sounds a tone when someone sits in the back seat with the engine running and doesn't put their seat belt on.

Even if I disable the option, the seat still emits a sound when someone sits without fastening the seat belt

Hello everyone, does anyone have an idea what this function is used for?

Even if I disable it, the car still makes a sound when someone sits in the back without fastening their seatbelt.

It's a feature not a bug. If people are in the back they must wear a seatbelt - it's the law. If you want the warning to stop, tell the rear seat passengers to belt up. The answer remains the same.

If we go camping and put stuff on the back seats, I use metal "inserts" from Amazon to simulate a belt being clipped in, as there's over 100kg of crap on the back seat along with our dog in his carrier. I keep the rear seats up as they act as a bulkhead for even more heavy stuff in the boot like a 75kg tent and a large 12v fully loaded coolbox.

If a rear passenger doesn't belt up, I don't move, it's as simple as that.

The most annoying "safety" feature I could really do without is Autonomous Emergency Breaking, which has caused a few rear-enders for some of us.

You'll be just as dead if crushed by a dog in a carrier as if crushed by a human being.

A rear passenger detection tone is a safety alert sound from a vehicle's rear occupant alert or rear seat reminder system. The tone, often a chime, is triggered after the engine is turned off and a rear door has been opened and closed, prompting the driver to check the back seat for children or pets. The tone is a component of the overall alert, which can also include on-screen messages and honking.”

This is not meant to disable the no seat belt chime, that’s not allowed.

You can test this by stopping the engine and opening the driver or one of the back doors with someone sitting in the back, maybe the car will “say” something.

He's only a 10kg border terrier and there's a bungee securing his carrier, but yes, any projectile is a danger.

C'est une fonctionnalité, pas un bug. Si vous êtes à l'arrière, la loi impose le port de votre ceinture. Pour que l'avertissement cesse, demandez aux passagers arrière de boucler leur ceinture. La réponse reste la même.

Actually, in Morocco, wearing a seatbelt in the rear seats is not mandatory within city limits — it’s only required for trips outside urban areas. So in this case, it’s not a legal obligation, even though the vehicle’s system keeps showing the warning for safety reasons.

Well then do as suggested above and find some clips to go into the buckle.

I believe AEB can be turned off, but I don't know what the other consequences might be. I do think it is far too sensitive.

It cannot be turned off, only disabled every time the car is started, ridiculous! That's the sole reason why I rejected my car.

On OP: safety should be the first concern, even before legal. though not legally required, you should think about safety and ask your passengers to fasten their seatbelts.

On AEB: AFAIK it can be turned off in the infotainment screen and the rear ending can be mitigated by setting a suitable following distance. You can't do this for the ones behind you, who should keep their distance as well, but they will hit you no matter what. I think the problem is with how we drive, not with the automation - if we drive correctly, legally, preventively, then most of the times the automation will not even come into action.
