Thinking of buying a 2015 octavia 1.4tsi elegance dsg

Featured Replies

Hi

I'm thinking of going to test drive a 2015 skoda octavia 1.4tsi elegance DSG.

It's done 10400 miles. 1 owner, full service history and a recent cam belt change.

What Should I look out for? Check whats been changed, maintained etc. Never had a dsg before. Its a lot of money for us and we are far from experts!

Thanks

Odd this, haven't been on this forum since March 22 and noticed this thread! I had the exact same car LT15 XYB from 2015-2022 and loved it. Mind you I only did 24k in that time. for some reason I changed to an MG HS PHEV and always regretted P/Xing the Octy. ( I'm on here reading up on the Elroq EV) The only real problem with the Octy was the 'Turbo Actuator Rod' on the 1.4 which failed a number of times, I think I had 4 failures that left me with a car that just did not want to accelerate and just went into limp mode. If I remember correctly the T.A.R fix would have been over a £1k each and the actual Turbo was replaced at 3 years, that would have been a £3k dealer fix. Luckily I had an extended warranty so didn't pay a penny.

Its a great car, as long as the service history is complete and it drives well then why not?

I think it has to be a 7 speed dry clutch. Check that it functions properly. Clutch replacement is a costly operation
