DSG sports mode question

Featured Replies

Hi.

I have recently purchased a 2018 Octavia 1.4 dsg.

Car runs fine and has no issues i believe.

I purchased it from skoda uk and its still under their used car warranty.

I have a question about the dsg7 box in this car.

When in sports mode and only in sports mode. When sttattionary the car doesn't start to pull away and engage the Clutch until about 2000 rpm and then pulls strong through the rest of the gears.

I mention because it doesn't do this in eco or normal drive modes and pulls fine.

Is this normal?

Thanks

Sounds like it is building hp before launching

No, not normal. Our Polo GTI (2015) has the DQ200 7 speed dry clutch, and doesn’t do this.

Needs checking out IMO. Could be mechatronic issue, or accumulator pressure, although that wouldn’t explain why it only does it in sport.

A friends 1.2 Fabia had this, in all driving modes, and it was the accumulator.

Presuming yours is the DQ200, a google of DQ200 accumulator pressure should bring up some useful reading.

In S when sitting in gear the RPM is higher than when sitting in D with the DQ200 DSG.

& It is going to a higher RPM before shifting up.

Try it held on the Parking / Handbrake not the foot brake when in S and then accelerate.

See how it performs.

The DSG might have what in the Fabia Mk3 section is in a thread titled ' The story of the Famous DQ200 Clutch Slip.

Hi.

Thanks for the replies.

I've got it booked in with skoda shortly so hopefully they can find the answer.

Took a couple of videos to maybe explain what I mean a bit more. (Applogies the phone was jammed in the steering wheel)

Top video is the normal drive mode selected..

Normal drive

Sport mode

Hope this makes sense.

Ditto with our DQ200 1.0 Ibiza FR. Sport mode doesn't increase the idle like it does in the performance-ish cars. AFAIK it increases the throttle input (I.E. 10% throttle becomes 20%) and it holds onto gears for longer. I can't say I've noticed it change any faster like it does in my DQ381.
