69 plate superb service advice

Featured Replies

Hi all, I'm after some advice on servicing my 69 plate superb, 2.0 TDI dsg with 25,755 miles on the clock. The car has been well looked after and has had almost as many brake fluid changes as oil changes. I guess I'm asking for the not so obvious things and when I should do them, for example dsg oil change, cambelt and other service items or recommend by a good forum that I may have missed. Below is the history of the car, with most of the servicing done before I got it. Appreciate the advice

29.01.2021 1407 miles oil change

11.02.2022 4257 miles oil change, air con service, service campaign 96H4

27.01.2023 6310 miles oil change, brake fluid change, 3 year 30k service

19.01.2024 9061 miles oil change, air con regas, mot, 4 year service

25.10.24 11289 miles oil change, brake fluid change,

10.04.25 16000 miles 4 new tyres fitted

29.04.25 16997 miles brake fluid change

29.05.25 17505 miles rear discs and pads changed

08.09.25 20833 miles oil and filter change only.

26.09.25 cabin filter change only

The DQ250 DSG oil & filter change is due at 40,000 miles unless you want done earlier. The Air Filter needs looked at and replaced if dirty.

Although at that age is it DQ381?

@SkodaKing if it’s 6-speed it’s a DQ250 gearbox which needs servicing as @Evolution13 said at 40k.

If it’s 7-speed, Skoda says it’s now 80k but that’s bonkers and get it done at 40k anyway because it’s a tiny preventive maintenance cost. I’m pretty sure there’s possibly/probably a timeframe for those too.

Mine’s ‘21 plate on almost 32k and I’ll be getting mine done at this year’s service around September which will be 5 years and about 37k anyway I imagine.

You don’t state if yours is 4x4 - if so the Haldex is woefully overdue and needs doing imminently (oil change, clean the gauze) but if not then nothing doing.

How come the brake fluid has been changed every other day? It needs doing but that was like 6 months and 5k miles at one point.

Thanks both, I'd like this car to last me many years. I've just ordered an under carriage pressure washer adapter to get under the car and hopefully remove the salt to prevent rust.

7 speed gearbox, I'll get it done at 40k

I had the brake fluid changed again after a Skoda dealership did it, the breaking power seemed to be worse following their work and I didn't believe they did it properly if at all. They also recommend discs and pads all round for £820 so I asked my independent to check it over as it was under warranty and would have a good argument that they shouldn't need it after so few miles. For £45 at the independent garage it was worth it. They agreed discs and pads didn't need it but the rear discs were a bit scored, probably from it sitting over COVID. I decided to change the rear discs myself for around £75 all in.

It's not a 4x4, although I wish it was. The car is fully loaded, with 4x4 the only thing missing.

No mention of cambelts?

Hi , when I collected my Skoda Superb 19 plate the garage as part of the pdi had changed the pads and discs all round !

Rear brakes seem to go earlier as they get used for ACC; but that tends to be pads rather than discs.

I’d had a similar experience re soft brakes but they just needed bleeding again. Worth a look at that bit good it got sorted.

Belts - not sure about. Petrol is chain so nothing to consider but plenty will advise I’m sure.

How can this be? My 2016 280 has 55k and it’s still has at least 5k miles on the front and rear pads; the discs are almost unmarked.

As I said they were very corroded, and seem to be made of cheese.

I was hoping for a bit more of a list of items and when I should next do them. A fuel filter, for example, What about cambelt, water pump, coolant flush, dpf, glow plugs etc

Cambelt is not due until at least 120K miles IIRC - but it (and tensioner) should be inspected for condition.

PS - and I believe the fuel filter is integral with the fuel pump.

... and water pump should be changed at same time as cambelt on TDIs.

Coolant - see if your header tank says Mit Silikat on it - at which point, get a replacement and change the coolant.

Ootohere used to have pics uploaded with all the official scheduling. I’ll try and find one…

Diesel fuel filter is officially 72 k miles /6 years but no harm doing it every 3 or 4 years or so, especially since its easy to do. There are several variants, there should be part code numbers painted/ printed on the side of the housing so make sure you get the right filter insert compatible for your housing number.

I am in a very similar position. I have just bought a 2020 L+K 4x4 estate with a full dealership service history and 48000 miles. I changed the air filter, cabin filter and fuel filter. I am not very good mechanically but these items were super easy and YouTube is awash with helpful tutorials. I was genuinely shocked at how dirty the old filters were given that the maintenance schedule was correctly followed. Oil change and DSG service next, but I will let BVR in Stoke on Trent do that for me. Any thoughts on any further preventative maintenance ?
