sun roof drains, bottom end in door pillar - how to secure

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm new here and this question may have been asked and answered already.

I posted this in an old sunroof thread but it might be better to create a new one 🤷‍♀️.

Short version - sun roof drains, bottom end in door pillar - how to secure

I've had the dreaded sunroof leak issues.

At this point (thanks to a guide found on this site) I have removed, fixed and re-installed the sunroof.

However the now the front right drain tube has detached from the rubber grommet on the door pillar.

I have taken the lower dash off and been able to get the drain tube back into the grommet - by feel only, I can't really see it.

However it seems to come out again really easily.

Are there any suggestion on how to secure this in place.

I've tried a cable tie, which I can get around it but can tighten, as I am doing it all by feel with my finger tips.

I'm wondering could I take out the grommet, push out the drain tube and then cable tie the tube to the grommet, and push them back in. My fear is that I won't be able to get the grommet back in - its a tight spot in between the pillar and the door.

Any thoughts ?

thanks
