Heated front screen option?

Featured Replies

Have an appointment in March with my local Skoda dealer as considering replacing our 2018 Karoq. Been looking at their on line car builder and can't see a way of adding a heated screen, I seem to recall from the time we ordered our current one that it was included in the so called 'winter pack' but that's now missing the heated screen as much of what was standard in that, eg heated seats and steering wheel, is now included on the basic model as standard but heated screen isn't listed. Can anyone who has ordered a Karoq recently let me know if heated screen is now standard?

It's part of the winter package plus option:

Have a good look at Autotrader for the price of new vehicles before going in, as there's a huge amount of stock sitting in the dealer network. The retail price of a new Karoq is far from being a bargain IMO, when you consider that things like the Varioflex seats are now a £1k option. You should be in a very strong position ahead of the 26 plates if you're prepared to take a 75. Obviously it limits options & colours but as a guide, I got £8k off an unregistered SEL Edition in June with very little effort, bar being willing to travel for the right car/deal. I doubt such discounts are available on bespoke factory orders, so could make that heated screen very expensive.

@Rbz5416 with those sort of discounts having a tested screen fitted by one of the retro fit specialists may actually work out cheaper, especially as the cost of the retro fit wouldn’t add to the list price for VED. Also buying pre reg avoids the higher first reg VED rate, as second owners in the first year only pay the Standard rate.

Don't you just love autocorrect? 😄

Indeed, although mine was unregistered but the VED was factored into the price. Just as well as it didn't realise is was so hefty. Even the renewal will be a bit of a hit after the £20 I was paying on the Polo!

Having lived with it for eight months I certainly wouldn't pay full price for one.

@Rbz5416 Auto corrupt is great - especially when I can't edit it! When I was looking for a demo or pre reg Sportline in April 24 I added £3000 to the advertised price for any vehicle that was over the £40K threshold, to arrive at the true cost to me over the expected 10 year ownership. In the end I bought a 6 month old 73 plate without a towbar instead of a 3 month old 24 plate with a towbar because even after paying for the Skoda towbar to be fitted it was lower cost overall. The first year VED rate at that time was £1040, but as second owner I only paid £190.

Thanks all. Winter plus package wasn't coming up when I looked at current options. Will raise it with Skoda when I start haggling 😁

My wife and I had retro-fitted heated screens fitted to both our Karoqs

Expensive but wouldn't be without them. Has been a <insert Deity of choice> send for both of us recently.

I think the point above about VED is a good one and the reduced car price will reduce the VED offsetting the cost of the screen if you went down that route

Ouch!, the 1.5 DSG was £595...

Are you willing to share how expensive?

Just over £1k

Cost as much as it is a faff doing it after it has left the production line. Screen needed to be sourced from Skoda, fitted by a separate screen specialist and then coded to be controlled by the infotainment screen by a further 3rd party firm.

We decided we really wanted them despite the cost. One of the cars we got rid of when we bought the Karoqs had it and the other didn't. We considered it a must have in any new (to us) car and couldn't find used Karoqs with the Winter Plus Pack (incl the screen) already fitted.

They both had heated front seats and steering wheels fitted when built.

VED for our cars is £190 and when it could have been/be several £100s more

Although the thread is about heated screens I'd like to chip in about the Varioflex seats as they have been mentioned in the quoted post. Hope the OP doesn't mind.

Both our cars came with them as standard for MY22 and MY23 SELs. It is a brilliant feature imo. Mine are permanently removed as I use the car for transporting tools for work. Makes it like a van but doesn't attract the attention of the ne'erdowells in the same way. If anyone is unsure about them here's short video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvxfbP_pxgQ&feature=youtu.be
