Map Update

Featured Replies

I have had my 2022 PHEV for 2 months during which I have had a free trial of Care Connect and Infotainment Online. Skoda have invited me to pay for these soon. I can see that my map version is 2 years old. I have tried updating from /updateportal.skoda-auto.com . My SD card works if I put music on it but having put the map update as the only thing on that card I cannot load it. Nothing appears when I press show all updates from the software and if I use the service menu nothing happens after I have selected the usb as in the attached pictures. I contacted Skoda customer service asking why neither the OTA update nor the manual update worked. In spite of an extensive exchange of emails they would only refer me to a document which explained how to update an Amundsen system which I guess must be on the previous model of Octavia and a list of Skoda dealers. I suspect the OTA doesnt work because all the software is old. Since I have had the car 2 other OTA updates have completed. Any suggestions to save me having to pay a dealer for the updates would be welcome

I managed to update my infotainment software via usb but the one thing I could never manage was to get the map updates to succeed, no idea why, I tried the process just as it was suggested. Caved and paid for the traffication app which means I get map updates OTA

When u use the USB option to update your maps, you have to prepare the USB stick as described by Škoda. After you put it in the USB in the car you have to wait, there is no prompt or status of the update. Let it stick till under System Info the new Version Number will show.

Some older FWs had problems with OTA Map Updates. To which Version did you update?

The description for traffication app doesnt include map updates. But the decription for Infotainment Online which I have (as a trial) says "Online Map Update - Download' so I should be getting OTA updates. Customer support did not answer why I'm not even though I asked 4 times

I formatted my SD card as described and put the update 202610 as the only thing on the card. I left it in and have driven for a total of more than 10hours.

Then I would suggest updating the Infotainment to the latest Firmware Version 1989

To be fair I have infotainment online too, that must be where I get the map updates from, I thought it was traffication

FWIW I have never had an issue updating mine, in fact I just updated to version 26.2 the other day - I plugged the USB in at work and it was done by the time I got home, less than a 10 minute drive.

I just use a USB-C Kingston 64Gb Data Traveller drive that i bought for this specific use, I previously had limited success using other brand drives and USB-A to C adapters etc.

My software version is 1803 and hardware H56....

I was like the other user, would leave the usb plugged in for days but no change... 😕

That was what happened to me initially when using other brand USB drives and adapters, I'm sure that the system is quite picky on this. Previously either nothing at all would happen or it would work one time and then not the next, with the Kingston drive it works every time.

Might just be coincidence, all I know is what worked for me. 🙄😊

I had the same issue with my maps not updating OTA when I first got our 2021 car. The car was also on version 1806 of the infotainment system. Because the car was still in warranty (just), I got the dealer to update the infotainment system and the maps to the latest at the time (1941 for infotainment) and both have been successfully updating OTA since.

Your infotainment version is old and needs updating. If you bought an approved Skoda used car the dealer should have upgraded all software to the latest version but they often do not. In my case I had to insist and then they did it. It will only update OTA after version 1941.

For the maps database you need to download the latest map zip file and extract the folders/files from the zip archive. There are 711 folders on my USB stick after extracting the files. Plug the drive into one of the 2 USB sockets at the front and check the status after 0.5 hours of driving. There is no indication that the files have loaded.

It is a bit unsettling that the update runs and completes without a single message appearing on the infotainment screen.

Totally agree, the only way is to look at the system Information screen.
