Cairus's Leon FR

Featured Replies

Thats a serious amount of retrofit. I didnt understand what you meant by the illuminated seatbelt buckles until i looked at the photos but they are pretty cool! didnt know they were a thing.

It will look much nicer with all white switches.

The positioning of the driving profile selector is very clever. Neatly tucked away.

Can we see some photos of the outside?

PS we are the same age!

PPS - I am honored to be listed alongside such legends as @JR RS and @Bap33 !

Yes, of course, photos of the exterior will follow as soon as I've parked the car in a nice spot.

I forgot to mention, the rear seat is heated; it was retrofitted.

Wow.....that is impressive!!

Well done.

U now have an Ultra Ultra Special Edition Leon FR with all those changes to it!!

Lol

Thank you, I will finish the aforementioned open projects and then slowly close the Leon FR chapter. I've probably spent too much time with the car and various retrofits( Octavia & Kodiaq) over the last 18 months, even though I have a delightful daughter who will soon be four and my "wife" of over 18 years by my side. But it was probably my refuge because I'm ill, and this illness is incurable.

Sorry to hear that @Cairus I find working on my car a nice distraction from work and family noise! But spending time with family is also important!

Awesome work! I regret we don't have any news from @ApertureS who is a Superb Mk3 Master Guru! He did similar major retrofits on his Superb Estate too. Simply stunning. He would greatly have appreciated your work, I guess. I assume @JR RS or @travs and many others would agree.

@Binx1310 Considering me as a Legend is a bit too much honor. I consider myself at best an "informed amateur". My only areas of so-called expertise are general maintenance (DSG6 DQ250 and Haldex Gen5 oil replacement, brake fluid replacement, engine oil replacement) and some VCDS mods, that's it. 😉

Just a few quick outdoor photos

What I forgot to mention in the list is that I also retrofitted active tire pressure monitoring.

I carried out all the retrofits myself, except for the immobilizer on the virtual cockpit back then.

White with black trim and wheels and red calipers! 😍

Back Side

I already have the front logo in black at home. The spoiler will be glossy black. The side skirts will be painted the body color.

That will look great. I was thinking of doing my roof glass black including the spoiler but now I’ve got the black roof bars I think it looks better as white otherwise you don’t get the contrast.

@travs I would appreciate an honest comment, please.

So you can get a glimpse of the interior in the light. The Isofix covers are still missing in the rear. The steering wheel trim has been painted gloss black; this isn't OEM. The seats intentionally retain the RS logo. As soon as the interior work is finished (which will be soon), it will be completely detailed.

@Cairus I love it mate - the enthusiasm, dedication and attention to detail is fantastic.

The exterior work is subtle which I like too.

On a side note, sorry that you have an incurable condition, and while it’s always good to have your distractions (us blokes tend to prefer that), family time is unparalleled. Your daughter’s smile is magic - make it happen whenever you can buddy.

I wasn’t mentioned, but I’ll still comment.

It looks pretty nice - the vRS seats in particular, are really cool! There’s a guy over here (EZMods) that does branded airbag warning label covers. You can have plain black, FR, vRS, R, GTI, S3, Cupra, Racingline, the lot. It’s obviously a bit late now, but for the future!

I miss my Mk3 1.4 ACT Leon FR Tech - gone but never forgotten. I’ve never driven a 1.5 FR - only a 1.0 Mk4 FR and then a 1.5 Golf Mk8. Both were pretty underwhelming compared to my Mk3. I loved my Leon - for what it was, it drove really nicely. I seem to remember the engine and gearbox being really nice.

Wishing you all the best - I’m obviously not sure exactly what you’re facing, but I too have an health condition that can only be managed, not cured. It’s nothing detrimental to my physical health, but has significantly changed the direction (and, from time to time, the quality) of my life.

You can’t change the cards that you are dealt in life, you can only play your hand.

Words to live by.

Looks very nice. Is it lowered? Or is that the OEM ride height? I think in time I will convince myself that an eibach pro kit needs to be installed on my superb…
