Hi all, been bugged by a persistent rattle within the cabin at ~1200-1400 RPM. I think the noise comes from the central vent/speaker at the front (top?) of the dashboard, as I can stop the noise if I put my hand on the plastic speaker grate there.

Anybody have ideas for how to remove the rattle? I've tried wedging something into the edge of the plastic vent to hold it, but I couldn't find anything small enough.

I removed the mesh over the speaker and wrapped its clips with textile tape. That solved the problem for me. Some people were saying the speaker itself may be badly attached and rattle, but I checked mine and screws were tight as should be.

Oh that's a good idea. How did you go about removing the cover?

So just go carefully with whatever trim tool you have handy to remove the vent. That will probably get you a better chance to get the speaker cover off. Here's a picture of the clips under the grille you need to get at.

I did not touch air vent, only removed speakers mesh. It simply unclips, so slide thin trim tool in the gap and pull. If I remember correctly, to remove air vent you'd need to remove this mesh first, anyway.
