Looks like one of the solitary wasps. They don't live in big nests, but act as predators on other bugs. They usually live in holes that they dig in the ground. When they catch a bug they inject it with enough poison to paralyze it, then they lay their eggs in the body and the larvae eat the victim alive.

Nice creatures......

There's some big buggers out there. Coming back from the show last night, on the A380 (dualie) at ahem 70 ;) I heard the loudest THUD on my screen, only to see a HUGE blob of insect goo - Tried using loads of washer and wiping - reckon I got through about a half tank of washer fluid before most of the smears on the screen had gone. Dread to think what the hell I hit. I think it was a very big moth, as it was night time.

:ne_nau: Saw a couple with tails on "flying ant day" (which were neither ants nor mosquitoes, possibly earwigs I suppose). Seemingly some insects are not indigenous now, meaning that they might spot me before I spot them

:sofahide:

No-one hiding, no-one at all, nobody whatsoever.
