miles per tank. furby vrs

Featured Replies

how many miles per tank is everyone getting on their furby vrs? iv'e not managed more than 385. :really:

Tom.

My trip computer average is about 43mpg, but its done less than 1000miles and only fairly short trips. I expect this to go up.

THe tank on the Fabia can be difficult to fill. I find if you release the vent valve on the filler neck I can get in 50l+ into the tank and you should see 500miles on a tank.

which reminds me, a trip to the local BP is in order. :)

I've done just over 5500 miles and averaged just under 44mpg.

Not sure what the most I've got from a tank is as I just fill up when I need to. All I do know is that I fill up every week and a half as opposed to twice a week when I had the the Mistibushi.

I usually get 450 on a normal tank... 500+ when using the expansion

WTF is "the expansion" ?!?

I get around around 450 if going gently. That averages around 47-52 mpg

if you look inside the neck of the filler next time, youll see a small lever on the right hand side, this is used to vent the expansion tank because in hot weather, the fuel will expand and the expansion tank stops the fuel coming back out the filler.

when the tank is full, and you push on the lever with the fuel nozzle, you can usually get another 5l in. but this is only advisable if its cold, and your going on a long journey.

i can make almost 140 miles before the fuel gauge moves off full with this :)

According to manuals the Skoda Fabia has a 45 litre tank (just a baby)

And if you look underneath it does look tiny.

Why the range is a little limitied.

I usually average 45 mpg on the way to work.

i dont usally get more than just over 300 miles but then again i boot it everywhere. is this good or bad?

One day I decided to drive like a vicar (apologies to any vicars) and got 58mpg out of the little beast on the way to work.

Needless to say this does occur often.

Do you mean "does" or actually "doesn't" ? ;)

If it makes you vRS boys feel any better I seem to get less than 400 miles out of a tank. According to the onboard pc which I tned to overlook since Jabba, I now get (normally) around 40mpg pe journey, unless it's over good distance with a good average speed (below 75)

Anyway, enough of this economy malarky!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

:dtp:

I diddn't drive like a vicar on the way to the pre christmas meet in Basingstoke in my boxed vRS and somehow managed to get 62mpg??? normally I get around 48 - 50 on my way to work

Needless to say this does occur often.

I did mean doesn't!!!

Can I go to bed now please my head hurts.

I average about 350 to a tank on mine post Jabba. Not really too bothered to be honest. It's still loads better than the max of 280 from the old 16v! ;)

I must be doing something wrong, I get about 300ish (I allways fill up before the light comes on cause the beep does me nut in). But hell I dont care cause I enjoy every one of those 300 miles ;)

My computer reckons I'm averaging 37mpg but hell it also reckons I'm averaging 52mph ;) (oh and that's over 4500miles)

However the trip computer reckons I have about 350miles range on a tank.

The expansion tank thing is less of an issue with diesel cars, at it is for the extra petrol vapour given off in hot weather( for those that don't know, petrol ignites at -45oC and diesel at 70oC so no vapour is given off). So in theory it should be possible to fill the expansion tank all year, but the choice is yours

strange but apparently true: Oil rigs use diesel to put out fires due to fact that it requires a much higher temp to release a vapour and is always around, whereas if a fire extinguisher is used they will not be able to replace it quick enough (or keep stock levels high enough). also the probable high rate of fires would make diesel more effective, either way don't try this at home.

I know mine isnt a Fab, but my Superb is giving me around 42/44 round town now and 50/55 on a medium run. It has the same pd130 lump as your vRS, but obviously more body and weight to pull around.

As for the filling of the tank, I always brim my car (and van) until the fuel is level with the top of the neck. The spring loaded valave at the top of the neck is a bloody good idea...I just hold it open with the pump nozzle and keep the fuel going in.........its suprising how quickly 62 litres can be put into a Superb (or 80 ltrs into a VW Transporter).

One advantage of always brimming the tank is that I dont really have to rely on the fuel guage to tell me what I have left, I just go on the mileage covered which is usually very acurate with how much fuel I have left (due to the constant of same fuel levels for the reset trip)

If the Fabia vRS has a 45L tank, that's approx 10 gallons. So if you

:please: bloody hell mate your pupils must be hammering it! I get between 44-48 mpg on lessons (sometimes a smidge less than 40 if lots of manourving) and a tank will usually do 450-500 miles per tank is I use the reserve (ie 50l+). The fabia tank can be a git to fill and I find it best to not put the nozzle in the hole, instead squirt the fuel in and when you hear it getting near the top stop. Then use the nozzle to depress the vent, wait a few seconds and then keep the vent in whilst putting in a load more fuel GENTLY! Hope this helps.

It depends on how heavy your foot is!!!

:shhh: :mischievo

I usually get 400 miles to a tank so that would be about right then.

Hehe. Coming back from the Wales trip, I was really really really low on fuel - wanted to get to my favourite Ultimate station back at home.

So low in fact that the last 15 miles were driven with the on board computer saying I had "0 miles" left in the tank :Yikes:

I thought I'd fill it right up to the neck, and include the expansion tank this time.

Now reading up in the manual, it says the tank is 45l. Now suppose the expansion bit is 5l, that would mean a total of 50, right? Well, I fit in 55l :scratchch

Drove off and glancing at the computer, it tells me I have 535 miles range left.

I've now done 150 miles and the needle has not budged off the full mark and computer says I have 490 miles left in tank. I just lurve that "warp fuel" that is diesel ultimate :tongue2:

So, I'll post back once I eventually have to fill 'er up again and let you know how many miles were driven with one tank full.

Oh, and just to wind up all the 1.8T nutters out there - how about getting 650 miles to a tank full ?!? :nana:

Now that was a bit silly wasn't it!!1

I would not recommend chancing it again, as diesels use a different system than petrol to feed the fuel to the injectors. This means if you run out, you have to bleed the system which is a right pain in the backside (ask anyone who changes VAG fuel filters without workshop knowledge).

I do this on ech tank to stop getting crap in the tank! The record is just over 40miles with a 0 reading! And that was through the Sctottish Highlands!!!
