A question of warranties

Featured Replies

Due to my mileage I want to find cars with good long warranty periods. Most manufacturers I'll be out of warranty at 2years and 1 day old (2yrs unlimited, 3yrs 60 or 90k). So, which ones offer at least 3 years unlimited?

All I can come up with, at first glance, are BMW, Hyundai, Land Rover and Mercedes.

Any others as:

BMW, bit pricey

Hyundai, tempting but very low rent interiors and I'll be spending 50-60k miles per year in there

Land Rover, either too agricultural or too expensive

Merc, tempting as I can get a good deal on them but may be expensive to service

Anything I'm missing?

Jaguar

Honda Motorbikes

Kia?

Lexus?

Kia

Edit - Beaten to it by Q.

Ha! :P

But hang on... don't you invalidate your warranty anyway within two weeks? ;)

No, usually at about 9k when it is nicely run in :haha:

About 6 weeks actually :D

I'm sure I read somewhere (here, actually) that the new Civic has a galactic mileage warranty.

I think it's only 90k.

Yep, Honda are 90k so nowhere near long enough , shame as I actually like the Civic.

May end up with a Merc B or C, the price is good ;) variable servicing, 3yr unlimited mileage warranty. Just a bit boring really. Wonder if Merc quality has improved? Are the dealers less arrogant than they used to be? Labour rates come service time are a bit pricey too - upwards of £90 per hour

I think most of the standard car mags list warranty details in the new car section at the back. I'll have a quick look when I get home tonight to see if there are any that have been overlooked.

There is a Merc salesman on here IIRC ;) I'm sure you know who he is.... perhaps they offer a Briskoda discount ?

No, he's still the same... ;)

Oh yes, most definitely do - saved about 3k on a SLK

Once a nobcheese, always a nobcheese eh? :D

On Merc servicing, there are plenty of authorised repairers etc who can do the job just as well. I know its a little out of the way  but my dad had bought loads of his company's cars from this lot http://www.vikingscanterbury.co.uk/home.htm and has had very good service - another main dealer that got dumped in a restructuring but is doing well without the overheads etc
