It's new year and time to update the software that Briskoda is running.

So hold onto your seats as the beta code we are currently running is now in RC state. So a few of the login/register/attach/user issues should go :)

Okay that was the good news...

...bad is Briskoda needs to go off line for a period of time at some point for a few things.

1. New server

2. Upgrade

3. Upgrade the Upgrade

4. :tombstone

No ETA on this, but some time in Jan. So if you arrive or bookmark the pages, they may change or not appear as they should. www.briskoda.net of course will always route you through.

Hope you all understand, this should allow us to complete the path we undertook a while back. So meanwhile, keep posting and I'll do a bit of this: :coder:  :stuck:  :hidesbehi :juggle: :lamer:

Woo.. new server?... does it have lots of flashy lights and stuff?

Im sure everything will go smoothly.. afterall, the people running this site are pros* :crown:

* at something ;) :bowdown:

All The best for Briskoda in 2004 :)

Sounds good, but dont be gone to long...pleeease ;)

Done some more work, so now it at least looks about right, thoughts please, mainly from dial up users, although a few dsl users might want to chip in.

A link to what I'm talking about might help...

beta.briskoda.net

Noting if registered after October your account won't be there.

Edit: Corrected the link above [Nick]

Colin, is that site indicative of a planned "new look"?

If so...please....Don't do it! :)

Index page is not indicative, not sure I even begin to like it. But it's the new version of what we used to have ;)

Forums, well that change is nessecary...Will take ages to make a "briskoda" style the same as this that is future proof with forum builds.

Explain the problems you think it has.

Not really a case of "Problems" as such.I just find the current layout very easy to live with...then again so was the previous look :D

Constant improvement i guess ;)

Well that is a release candiate, they changed the way themes are done, thus it apperas to have a different layout.

Same func as this, just the bugs are gone so my inbox might stop filling up ;)

If it's graphics for buttons etc we will be adding a stripped down view.

Also plans for a PDA/wap interface are bouncing around.

Is also the nature of the beast in using 3rd party software. Not doing all this for the fun of it ;) Thats Q, Denis and Steve's boat :) :Handshake

It looks.. er.. different; but apart from that there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with it. Probably a good sign, because if anything was broken, my system (no Microsoft anywhere) would probably find it...

Funny how you get used to things, isn't it? Looks fine to me - of course it's "different" again - will need some customisation. Main thing I noticed was how much wasted space there is in the post headers ...

Love the pull-down menus tho

NOOOOOOOO... its hard enough trying to do work without taking a sneaky peak at the website. woe betide all of us if its on wap/xhtml and PDA too :hbomb:
