First time I've gawked at an American SUV...

Featured Replies

We did some serious off roading in Oz a few years back. The veehikle of choice out there is a white Landcruiser V8 with a suspension lift and chunky tyres. It was truly amazing what the car can do and also the skill of the driver we had. All LR products aren't taken seriously out there

bit touchy ain't you

No no....just thought I'd use youre nickname as the pun. If you scroll below that post you'll see a big green smily :)

Modern American trucks rule. LR cars, as sexy as they are today just cannot handle the off road environment, especially in the dunes, just like the Beemer X5 and Cayenne Turbo. That's Nissan Patrol and Land Cruiser territory, and they are truly the king SUVs of the desert (there I go with my 'king' thing again), and they go excellently on soft sand extreme. Another commendable vehicle for off-road use is the Jeep Wrangler...lightweight, powerful and fast.

I wouldn't imagine this Cherokee to be used for off-road purposes at all...if it were it would probably keep digging huge holes on the spot..and probably resemble one of those sand-thrower ships on the gulf building the Palm Islands..

I would of expected more HP from a 6.1l engine. I mean Mitsubishi got 400BHP from a 2.0l.

with a BFO turbo thats lags like mad :)

i bet this thing pulls from tick over not 4k upwards

I agree, but get some slippy mud and deep standing water and the LR Defender is king. The British Army use them to tow the Jeeps out of the mud when they get stuck - with trailers on and in 2WD (this is true)

Each 4x4 has it's own environment and on a European stage the LR is king, in the Desert the LC has it every time

Personally I love the LWB Landcruiser :D

Oh ya and It does only 4 or 3 MPG wile the SRT 8 with its 6.1 Supercharged engine will do alot more than that.. and it does have no lag and torque is available anytime at any gear whenever you want it

when i was out in florida in march i drove hummer:).....huge!!! the front seats take up as much space as the whole of the inside of my car!!!....There are hundreds of them out there.....they are as cheap as chips!!!!....But then again the guy who owned it also has a race tuned limited edtion corvette!!!....wouldnt let me drive that though :(......but really i wouldve been too scared to!!!

k:)

As a serious 4x4 for offroad use I'd have a Unimog as my first choice and a Land Cruiser as my second.

Oh my god it's even uglier than the Escalade.

Today i had a very close look at the Grand Cherokee SRT8 in my university, it was a maroon color, looked seriously HOT and i mean it.. i didnt expect it to look that good in real life at a close look but i was just so speechless while looking at it.. Its got some 19"or 20" rims with its HUGE black Brembo brakes, The interior looked awesome aswell, it's a very low 4x4 car to be honest, but looks way better than a Cayenne Turbo, X5, Escalade, Infiniti Fx45 or any other 4x4 car, I cant think of any better looking 4x4 cars at the moment, im Judging based on wut i saw in real life today...
