Featured Replies

i just picked up my 56 plate fabia vrs ,so i should be over the moon ,but i not. back seat got a lot of crease lines along the back which i showed sales man before i left . lots of dirt & dust in sills boot & engine .out side looks washed & clean but every where else looks like it been standing in rain for a long time needs a real good clean. & no air con working it just makes a loud hissing noise when its on but air not getting any colder .got to take car back for them to look at but that not that easy as i 30 miles away & have only got sundays off for a while . this is not a good start to my new car. any ideas what the problem with aircon could be??????????????

reject it .isnt that a bit harsh, they said they will look at it but i feel naff not over the moon even though i got a new car on me drive.boo whoo

i wouldn't have accepted it in the first place , the salesman should have gone through all the functions of the vehicle with you , and when he found the aircon faulty with you sat there , he should of said "thats not right, i can't let you take that" , its not had a very good P.D.I. either ,f the technician hasn't found the aircon fault , i hope you get it sorted ASAP , its certainly not a good start to VRS ownership

When did the car arrive at the stealers for you to collect on new plate, one drop of rain and sills are filthy from run off water threw door drain holes, sounds a bit of a poor valet before delivery but may have been stood after valet especially if dealer had a load to do for 1/9. Air con should have been checked at pdi? sounds like a loose hose? Not sure what I would have done, probably driven straight back and asked for the aircon looking at there and then. Hope it gets sorted soon. Wrinkled seats I think come as standard fit! Know its a ball ache when everything is not perfect to start with, but they are fun to drive  By the way have you got the stutter, another free accesory

I've noticed it a couple of times..... and i'm honestly shocked that people have called it dangerous and rejected their cars! Its hardly noticable! :P

Bugman, was your car a factory order or was it supplied from dealer stock. If it was dealer stock, I wonder how long it has been hanging around before being sold.

The stutter is different from car to car, mine isn’t bad but I have driven a friends which was really bad it would have driven me nuts if it was mine, thankfully it wasn’t, sounds like you got lucky.

My fabia had a mouse nest under the bonnet when I got it home so god knows where they are parked!

I am not sure if it was a Czech or British mouse.

How do you tell?

Ask it a question, if it shrugs its shoulders and doesn't reply then it it must be Czech.

You don't have to give them a chance to put it right. Give it back and ask for another car - one that works.

I didn't think of that

The Sales of Goods act states...

Of satisfactory quality - goods must meet the standard that a reasonable person would regard as satisfactory, taking account of any description of the goods, the price and all other relevant circumstances. The quality of goods includes their appearance and finish, their safety and their durability. Goods must be free from defects, even minor ones, except where these defects have been brought to your attention by the seller (perhaps the goods are being sold as 'shop-soiled').

I think the last part maybe of particular interest to you.

If you wish to do this then you must stop using the car with immeadiate effect, inform the dealer and finance company (if any) in writing that you are rejecting the goods (call them to give them a heads up). Give consumer direct a call, they'll advise you and informing the dealer you've spoken to them will also set alarm bells ringing with them should you want the vehicle repaired!

things arn't that easy in life, especially the motor industry. It would be the perfect answer in this situation but like I said you can't simply say ala Little Britain "I Don't want that"

!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????????

but like I said you can't simply say ala Little Britain "I Don't want that"

Yes you can!!! You have rights under the already described section from the Sales of Goods Act. Get rid and give this dealer a sharp shock. If more people rejected at this early stage then it would go someway to sorting out the cowboy Skoda Dealers!!!

I would support the opion that the reason retailers get away with such shoddy behaviour is because they are allowed too. You have rights and if you unhappy with a purchase you should use them.

It can be a lot of hassle but if you feel strongly about it (I felt strongly about the £11K I spent on my car which wasn't perfect) then don't drop it and be another one the dealer pulled a fast one on.

One piece of advice don't post there name incase they read these forums, it might cause you more problems.

To be fair rejecting the car sounds a bit extreme, give the dealer a chance to come up with a courtesy car, pick up and drop off if you live a way away, and let them have a look see. Might be something simple like a blown hose. Agree that cowboys shouldn't get away with ripping off the public but if everyone rejected there car for a wrinkly seat cover................and it is a new car rather than 'a dealer special' with sawdust in the gearbox

It's how much hassle your prepared to put up with, mine was in and out the dealers for 2 months after I collected it. I had sleepless nights and a lot of stress. How much faith do you have in a company that can't even deliver a brand new car in fully working order...personally not a lot!!

Personally after my experience with a new Skoda I would reject a brand new car with any fault whatsoever, i'm buying a new car so it doesn't have faults and I dont have to make trips to the dealers and drive round in a 3 cylinder fabia instead of the 20k Superb I paid for!

I would apply this to any new car I bought not just a Skoda, a friend of mine has just rejected a Volvo XC90 after 5 months and nearly 40k, due to an annoying squeak that the dealer could not fix after 6 ettempts. they re-funded him in full and he's just bought an X5 instead.

Fair comments but like you said he rejected the car after giving them 6 attempts, I would say that giving them 6 goes at a problem was too many, but not giving them any chance a little extreme. In fact I would go as far as to say that there would not be a car manufacturer in business today if every car with a fault within 3 month of delivery was rejected. ( wether this is due to complacency on their part that people won't reject, and wether it would change if they did I don't know, but given that some of the more luxurious makers have been the worst offenders in the past, if reports are to be believed, I doubt it)
