New Fabia vRS 30mins old, problems already.

The one thing to bear in mind is rejecting a car is a hard work but it can be done. It's not as easy as I don't want this anymore but you shouldn't back down if that's what you want.

Bugman,

I wouldnt of accepted the car.

You should name and shame the dealer too!!

BUY A CLIO197,IVE JUST ORDERED 1,GETTIN RID OF MY BAG OF **** MK2 OCT Vrs. Cant wait 2 hand over the SKODA SKIP KEYS AND GET SHUT.

My 2 week old Fabia VRS had problems right from the off. I am not a perfectionist, i have had 6 brand new cars, 3 have had small problems. Give the dealer the chance to rectify the fault or faults. Maybe i am too laid back i don`t know, but buying a new car should be pleasurable, just go with the flow.

Mine is booked into the dealers in 2 weeks time, either there will be more faults to resolve or there will be less as i rack up more miles and the components bed in.

This is the 2nd Fabia i have owned, the first was faultless apart from the squeak going over speed ramps, which i had sorted under warranty. Overall a great car.

Good Luck and Enjoy.

was obviously well PDI'd, not a good start really. best of luck.

Ive had silly problems, like flaking paint on front bumper, rear wash jet blew off inside boot soaking everything and most recent was a water leak from a switch on radiater. Nothing major.

Done 19000 miles!!

If you guys think that rejecting cars for minor problems is the way to go well that's fair enough.

But - ask yourselves this - who do you think is going to end up paying for all these rejections?

The retailers certainly don't have the margins to take back registered cars and resell them at a loss.

If you want the manufacturer to pay, well, he probably will.

All funded through a hike in list prices.

I disagree.

If people dont buy the cars because of defects, the quality will have to improve before they do.

Yep, bin it and get another one. The dealer does not have a leg to stand on

Er people, if you bought a TV and couldn't get ITV, you a) wouldn't live with it, B) go back to the shop demanding a new TV. We are too British sometimes for our own good. Send the car back, notify the Finance co. if app, and give them 7 days to source you a new car, and / or lend you a car till the new one arrives

So what do you suggest is the correct course of action?

Drive about in a crap courtesy car when you've paid top money for a brand new car from a dealer?

Where would you draw the line? a few minor faults? 1? 2? if they cant build a car that is right when new, or PDI a car properly, they shouldn't be selling them.

If we all take the defeatest attitude and think "ooh poor little dealers" then we are asking for them to stiff us, dont believe for one minute that the dealer loses out if you reject a car, there is so much bullsh*t about how car dealers struggle etc etc that people are starting to believe it, hence why we'll never match the prices cars are available for on the continent!

Frankly i'd fully expect a new car to 100% perfect in every way. any less and I might just as well have bought a second hand car. I'd reject it, if Skodas have taught me anything they go one of two ways -

There either reliable from the start and never any trouble, or

They are faulty from the start and constantly causing you trouble.

Mine was a duff one, not one day in 3 years was it without a fault of some description. thankfully i'm nearly rid of the pile of cr*p and shall never darken a Skoda dealers door again!

That standard of delivery for a new car is outrageous. I would be absolutely MENTAL about this!

I agree, name and shame and get them to pick it up imediatly to get it fixed, if what you are saying is true they need to be pulled up on it, got any photos?

The problem is if you give them a chance to fix it, it could be viewed by law that you have accepted the vehicle and by doing so you are limiting your chances of being able to reject the vehicle should the repair not work.

I have no sympathy for any business that can not deliver a product that is 100% at time of collection. Having gone through my experince of collecting a one year old car, it had not been prepared or had any of the outstanding issues resolved on it and giving the dealer a chance to resolve the problems. It took a whole 2 months for the car to be satisfactory, during which I was driving 1.4TDis, Octavias etc. Not the car I wanted!

You do not have to give them a chance, they are not your friends, do they knock £50 off the price of a service because it's a bit dear and you can't afford it? No, so stand your ground, use the laws that are there to protect you.

If they go bust because they are incompetent who's fault is that? Certainly not the consumers.

"buy A Clio197"

things may not work in the skoda but atleast it wont fall to bits!

Clio 197-

Clios are from ToysRus arnt they?

"Clios are from ToysRus arnt they?"

French ToysRus aswell I believe!!

You need to stink of garlic, wear a berry and stripey T shirt, oh and not care at all about build quality!!!!

I must have been really lucky with my car

mine was spotless when I picked it up

only problem I had was the squeeking brakes in reverse

they dont squeek no more

I think it may have been because they realised I would of been a really annoying customer if there was a slight problem with the car

Pretty much sums Skoda up right there, once they have your money - not interested.

The contract is with the dealer and SUK are right (although I appreciate it's not what you want to hear).

You must remember that in law you have only a limited time in which to inspect the goods before it is considered you have accepted them. This time is not clearly defined but the quicker you act the likely hood of successfully rejecting the car will increase. Eg. If you leave it a week before reporting the faults and attempting to reject the vehicle, the dealer could argue that you have accepted the goods.

My advice is to speak with Consumer Direct, see what they say and make a decision based on that.
