Bosch Aero Wiper Arm for Fabia

Featured Replies

I want to fit Aero style wipers to my Fabia and, having read various threads, have decided to get the Bosch wipers (used at present and I know are good) but need to decide;-

Do I get the Renault Scenic ones and fit them to my present wiper arms (with the traditional U shaped end) OR do I change the wiper arms for Bosch Aero ones and do a 'proper job' with OE Aero wipers getting the Bosch 928s twin pack that has the correct 21"/19" wipers.

Two questions to the forum:

1. Are the Renault Scenic wipers 21" and 19"? If not what lengths are they?

2. Which Bosch Aero arms from the VAG parts bin are the correct length/angle etc to go on a Fabia?

1. 600mm & 400mm (roughly 23" & 16").

2. None of the VAG aero wiper arms fit the Fabia properly.

I've just bought some Valeo aero style wipers (x-trm?) from Ebay which come with a convertor to fit standard arms. It'll be a little while yet till i can comment on then as i had to pay by cheque but at least they're the correct size.

Thanks, Chris.

I had seen your photo on previous threads and was impressed by the neat nature of the fitting clips (as well as them being Bosch, of course).

However, how does the difference in length of the blades 23" + 16" (Renault) as opposed to 21" + 19" (Fabia OE) affect the sweep pattern on the screen? Surely your passenger gets to see less but you perhaps more, OR don't you notice?

It appears no different from inside. They are Sooooo much better than the originals. Get some!!!

Theres about half an inch on the passenger side which won't get wiped anymore. But the drivers side benefits with a bigger wipe which makes more sense to me...

Have you got a price for these mate?? and what exactly do i ask for in the Renault Dealer? Cheers:thumbup:

Here's the part number for the Renault aero wipers that I have on the Fabia:- 77 11 236 179.......... It says on the back of the box that they're for a Renault Scenic I 10/96> & Scenic RX4 05/00>.

I think Renault have this part number down as just one wiper even though you get the pair in the box....... I just told the parts bloke that i only needed one. I seem to remember they were around the 30-odd quid mark.

When you come to fitting them they just fit onto the existing arms.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Cheers Chris:thumbup:

We aim to please:D Hope you can get them . My Renault dealer had them in stock!! I know them cos I made the BIG mistake of buying a Megane 2 from them !! I was practically a member of staff the times I visited the service department!!

Having started this thread I thought I would add to it having followed the aero-wiper threads with interest over the past few weeks and eventually bought and fitted some to my Furby yesterday.

Having read the threads and looked at various websites for types/sizes of wiper I decided to stick with what I know, that is Bosch, but of course wanted the flat blade aero wiper. Bosch do the standard and super wipers but they are traditional in design. Their flat blade wiper is the aero or aero-twin that can bought in, say, Halfords BUT these are only for the likes of the latest Golf/Polo/Ibiza etc that have specific ‘aero’ wiper arms (none of which I learnt will fit on a Furby).

I looked up Bosch websites and found that aftermarket aero wipers, which will fit onto traditional hook-ended wiper arms, are freely available in Europe but not UK. I rang Bosch GB and spoke to their technical department. Bosch aftermarket aero wipers were due into UK this summer but the release date has been put back to nearer Christmas, or later (?); the difference is in the sweep of the wipers with Left vs. Right hand drive vehicles, so the fitting clip has to be the right way round!

The solution seemed to be at Renault, with positive reports being given of using their flat blade wiper set for a Scenic I. These ARE Bosch Aero for a RHD sweep and as blades well recommended BUT I had issue with their size for a Fabia, the driver’s at 24” being OK but the passenger’s at 16” being short and leaving a noticeable portion of the screen unswept (compared to the standard 19” passenger’s wiper).

I spoke to a local Renault dealer who was most helpful as Renault are promoting flat blade conversions for most of their older cars. Because of the sizing issue they got a selection of their wiper sets in, and I went up to them to compare. The details of these are:

Part no; 77 11 236 179 for Scenic I – 600/400mm (24/16”)

Part no; 77 11 236 178 for Megane II – 600/450mm (24/18”)

Part no; 77 11 236 177? for Laguna – 600/500mm (24/20”)

All were priced at £35 inc VAT. I found the 20” passenger wiper just ¼” too long as it fouled the screen pillar when parked, so settled for the 18” one that gives only a slight reduction in the swept area on the passenger side.

I therefore bought the Megane II pack and believe that this gives the best result for a Fabia. Additionally, knowing the lengths and pairing of the Renault packs I have been able to order a pair for my other car and it may well be that the Megane II pack will work on an Octavia.

Finally, the Renault dealer I used is Waters in Letchworth (Herts) on 01462 673850 and ask for Michael in Parts – he was most helpful and will gladly get more wiper packs in for anyone else.

Now I just need it to rain !!!!!!

Just checked with our local Renault dealer and the price for the Megane II kit is

I actually paid £28 !

OK - RRP is £29.79 + VAT = £35.00 BUT I paid £23.83 + VAT = £28.00 I've got the invoice.

Clearly I got a bit of discount but I was talking of buying a second pair that I have now ordered.

However, my main point is the Megane II set fit WELL (and better than the Scenic I set) so I bought them !

dumb question this but has anyone got a picture to compare the difference between the OEM ones and the Megane II ones on a Fabia?

Also why are these wipers better than the standard Skoda Fabia OEM ones?

EDIT - Just seen the picture above of the Fabia with Scenic wipers, has anyone got a picture of the Fabia with the Megane II wipers though...

Thanks, Chris.

It was dark when I fitted them (the Megane II set) last night and I haven't got my Fabia with me today. I knew someone would ask about a photo and I'll try and take & post one tommorow.

Why are they better? - this is a link to Bosch's German website that explains all - Bosch Automotive Aftermarket - Windshield wipers - Aerotwin windshield wipers

Its all in the 'flatblade' !!

I'm collecting my set of Megane II on Saturday and before I fit them I'll try them on our MKI Octy vRS and see if they are suitable for this car as well.

Hmmmm - wonder if these'd fit the Mondeo? I need some new wiper blades!

Hey Chris,

Halford say your car needs 22/20 wipers so the Renault Laguna Set at 24/20 will be a possibility.

Don't you have flat blade wipers already though? My neighbough has a '55 Focus with them, but perhaps they haven't got to the Mondeo yet.

Thanks for the reply - I've been doing a bit of digging and it seems Ford make their own flat blade wipers for the Mk3 Mondeo, just don't fit them as standard to any cars. Quoted 35 quid for them

Chris

Collected my Megane II set of wipers yesterday.

Looks like they would be suitable for a MK I Octy as well as the Fabia.

Fitted them to the Fabia and they fit great.

Just got to wait for it to rain now in sunny Devon;)

Here are photos of the Renault Megane II flatblade wipers on my Fabia; including an uncluttered 'driver's eye view'.

Just ordered the Megane II wiper arms set as recommended in other threads. Do these simply clip onto the existing Fabia arms in place of the originals, or is some kind of adaptor clip needed? The Renault parts guy seemed to doubt they will be a straight fit and I noticed mention of 'small plastic adaptors' in a previous thread. Could someone clarify please.

Cheers

Rick:confused:

Think the wipers come with the clips. I had to flesh one arm of mine out with duck tape for a really secure fit (not the renault ones) Mine look fine and work fine, and were only about £15 delievered.
