OK, looks like I'm getting N2O (NOS, Nitrous, Nawwzzzz etc)!

Hey all

I've been toying with the idea for a while now... Tuning a N/A engine is expensive for the meger gains you get, so I'm going the Nitrous route!

My tuner's (JBS) are offering me a very stealthy installation of a HighPower Systems (Wizard of nos) nitrous oxide system tailored for my engine (for that OE look that I'm into) apart from in the boot where I hope the shiny chrome bottle will look good beside my ICE!

I'm going for a 25bhp injector inittially, then later on possibly a 50bhp injector with a digital progressive controller.

Basically, my car will pretty much keep up with a standard 1.8T as it is, but seeing as I no longer know anyone with a "standard" 1.8T, I'm getting pretty disheartened!

The kit is supposed to be the highest quality and safest in the world, so that's the reason why I've taken an interest in it.

The 25bhp injector will give me 150bhp at the flywheel, and a 50bhp injector will give me 175bhp!

Cost per BHP is proper good... And I think I'll notice the difference.

My car weighs in at around 120bhp/tonne at the moment, so it's pretty good for a shopping trolley, but add nitrous to that and the power to weight will be pretty impressive.

I called my Insurers (Adrian Flux) and they only want an extra

Josh,

All I'll say is get a really good controller and a decent purge valve, that should minimise the risk to your gearbox/engine and reduce the risk of it exploding.

Jon

PS Say hi to your mum for me (yes, I do know her!). :D

And those extra bhp will be available for how many ..... seconds?

Just kidding Josh - go for it if you want to.

It's amazing!

Overtaking is effortless... Flick, click, press... and you're round the obstacle!

FFelan... Didn't you have Nitrous on your Octavia?

Thats a very nice install..

wonder what it would do for a diesel..... 300bhp 450lb/ft anyone? :D

while on the subject you might like this

haha, I've seen that thread before... proper funny!

Nitrous is great in TDI engines, but it's a bit more complex to fit as the engine needs a lot more derv...

I'm going to go for another blast in a bit... It's like having a new car again... Can't stop driving it!

Do you not have to post warning stickers on the outside of the car if you are carrying a pressurised container? The same warnings that are on the cylinder.

I'll get out of the way if I spot you!

I'm just imagining the conversation with Direct Line. 'You have fitted 'what' to your car sir?'

Right then...

Private Test Track times (with my 12 stone brother in the car with me, holding the stopwatch):

50 - 80 off gas: 10.2s

50 - 80 on gas: 6.9s

3rd gear

:D

Oh, and it's -2*C outside at the moment, so the bottle isn't very warm!! (therefore it's not under as much pressure, so it's not delivering as much gas to the engine)

Can't wait until the weather sorts itself out!

Well I had NOS installed on my Supra with the Maximiser progressive control unit. It comes recommended, I started on 50bhp nozzle. We will see what its like on the 24th at Bruntingthorpe for its virgin run. Mind you that is on top of over 600bhp so i wonder what difference it will make ?

Carefull of the nylon lines, had a fair few systems with them leaking in at work, not good. And if you disconnect them the olives at the end are knackered and need to be replaced.

Were running nitrous on our modded Cooper S, quite entertaining (355 bhp!)
