Help With Badge Removal

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Whats the best way to remove the badges??

I want a clean back (no fabia, skoda or tdi badges)

Tried the air drier thing, but, didnt work.

i am afraid of damaging the paint os even scrach it.

my car is almost brand new and was always babyed since i bought it.

Can anyone help?

Thank you.

Ypu have to have the skoda badge unless you have the holes behind filled or covered.

Has been well covered before but fishing line is the best IMHO, using a swing action behind the badge. then clean up glue with tar and glue remover.

It has holes?

fabia & tdi badges are glued

Skoda badge has holes.

Looks great with skoda badge only.. heres pic of mine smoothed:

The skoda badge is glued on and has two pins that go into the paintwork. After seeing it done on a fabia on here I did the same to my Octy Vrs last week. I kept the VRs badge to hide the holes.

I pulled off the badges then put a hair dryer on the rest of the glue underneath then polished the panel up after. As above Tar and glue remover will help more!

are the badges on the sills (classic in my case) glued aswell, i want to debadge mine like 'Fabia 12v' but dont wanna start and then regret it. Is it a relatively easy process?

Thank you all guys, and appreciate the pics.

Very nice cars!!!

The VRS badge idea to hide the holes is great, but, mine is a regular 1.4 TDI with a tdi badge on it. it wont look that good since it is just a tdi and by putting a vrs badge, its "tunning" it too much with no performance.... lol. any badge idea to hide those holes?

Thank's again mates.

bump ;)

I have the opposite problem. I want to reapply a removed letter/s from my car and not sure what to use. :o

I would just use your TDI badge, mate. :)

double sided tape Jason, I can probably send you some if you want, It's the stuff I use at work

If that's the kind of thing suitable, I'll give it a go. Thanks. :)

Just thought it might need something a little tougher?

Hmmmmm. :finger::rofl:

I think PU adhesive would be the strongest tyre of glue I'd use.

isn't there a guide on how to de-badge somewhere?

I'm a signmaker and spend loads of time removing badges on vans, its easy like has been said before, heat up with hairdrier then remove, clean up with tar and glue remover then polish, if you want to put them back on you can get double sided tape for fixing number plates on from places like Halfrauds it works fine.

Excuse me for being ignorant but is this a lengthy process.

I have just acquired an 03 Reg Laurin & Klement and wanted to debadge her.

I boil the kettle poor the water over the badge soffens the glue.Use a blade or something fine to get under the corner of letters and pick off.Be carefull that opposite end of letter does not scrape car when bending letter.(please be carefull of boiling water)

this is what a smooth fabia boot looks like. Trouble is mine's a little scratched too :o

nice rear end.. i mean tail light's. :D

Best method I've found is to use either cotton or fine fishing line to saw through the foam adhesive pad. WD40 will then remove the residue, finish off with a decent polish (or at worst, Tcut) and a layer of wax.

To refix, Halfrauds sell reels of double-sided adhesive foam. I've used this for badges and number plates without fail once.
