Porsche is sold,Integra Type R(DC5) or Clio Trophy???

Featured Replies

As title says,

sold the Boxster at the weekend, its being picked up tomorrow morning.

So what do i get next to have some fun in over the winter.

Have narrowed it down to 2 cars:-

Clio Trophy

Honda Integra Type R (DC5)

I think they are both very good cars, the Clio is top of the list as its cheaper to insure,a UK car and newer.

The Integra is great looking but is older,an import and more expensive to insure than my Boxster S was.

What do you all think of these cars, anyone with any experience of either who would like to share it with me?

Have you considered the Racing Type-R ;)

Litchfield Imports

I'd be leaning towards the Honda because I hate unreliable cars and I've heard and experienced Renault's in the past. If unreliability isn't a major concern (and you have a warranty) then I guess it's down to which one you prefer to drive :D

Chris

My Fabia :D

DC5 easily.

You'll wee yourself with excitement every time you go for a spirited drive - but other than that they're bloody marvelous !

Racing DC5 sounds interesting, wonder if the 2.0 used is the S2000 engine?

Nope. Its the normal DC5 engine.

DC2 owns the DC5 tbh....

Really ? I had a DC2

DC5 and it has to be in white.

DC2 will be pretty long in the tooth by now TBH. Most must have 60k mile son them by now.

That is so wierd. I have a guy i know from the pub, who has a Octavia vRS, and is a briskoda member, but doesn't use this forum much, and Sold his BoxsterS either last weekend or just before.

Maybe you are the same people, or a twin living in a parallel world.

I will let you know which one he goes for, but i Think he has a CamenS in mind.

Cayman S very nice :D Me like, me drive, very fast and handle very nice :D

Me too....

PROPER VTEC.....

Not this fakie iVTEC nonsense.

A real drivers car. :D

Honda has got to be a better car than the Renault , isn't the Integra engine more BHP than a Civic type R , 220 or something like that

220PS. ;)

220PS. ;)

I think its 220bhp not ps. ;)

S2000 is a longitudinal motor, DC5/RSX motor is a transverse. Probably the same as the Civic Type R motor, the extra bit of HP on the DC5 will be down to ECU set up for 100RON IMO.

Trophy or DC5?

I went in a 182 cup this weekend and have driven the 'Teg 200hp (Acura RSX Type-S in the states)

Difficult choice, 182 is a nippy little motor for sure, but also may feel tinny to you. Thats what I thought anyway. By the way, my research on the Clio forums told me the 182 = PS and not HP. I think in HP terms 182PS is something like 176HP (although dont quote me on this)

The Acura RSX Type-S was one of the first cars I test drove in the US - it didnt feel quite as nippy as the Civic Type R I drove just before going to the US in 2003...and they are supposed to have the same or very similar motor. But the RSX might well be a lot more strangled due to US emissions regulations than a JDM Teg Type R would be. The US owners found that the cars didnt quite make the claimed 200hp so maybe the JDM has different (better) internals. The type R philosophy used to be the best parts off the line, best tolerances etc.

Honda every time for me build quality wise and just overall 'feel' of the car. I liked the Integra DC5 but I didn't buy one in 2003 as they were new in the US then and for $25k I was able to buy a 2001 Z3 3.0. Which I did ;)

Enjoy the car shopping though

My Fabia :D

have u still not sold that?

think he wants my golf!

Nope. Its the normal DC5 engine.

Its not normal if its 2.0, bored out then? Stroked?

is it not the 2.0 from the s2000?

The standard DC5 is a 2litre! It uses the K20A which is the JDM verson of the K20A2 used in the UK CTR producing 220ps. ;)

is it not the 2.0 from the s2000?

No! Its a completely different engine, it even spins in the other direction so can't be mated to the fwd gearbox.

integra without a doubt!

Cheers guys,

The Boxster is gone!!!

I'm still undecided, why are there so many good cars!!!

The Clio is still favourite, the Integra as much as i think they are very cool the mileage i'll be doing in it i feel i need a UK car.

Not many Clio's around though,as you'd imagine as they only built 500 of them!

Lots of CTR's though,i do like them i have to say.

I don't know what to do!!!!!
