Follow up in my Transport Design course!

Featured Replies

Been really really enjoying the past 3 weeks of being here, and its quite possibly one of the best achievements by far!!! 10 years and finally part of my dream is here to study what i love - designing cars. everyday its been to some it will just appear to colour cars in and draw them getting the techniques right. currently been given a project to redesign/replace what a taxi would be in 2027! other people have chosen busses, trams etc.... some ones already booked a flight to venice to have a look at the water taxis over there etc.... and the tutors inspire me so much to do so much more than what is asked for!:D i've made millions of mates here already and theres some automotiv design birds doing the course too wich is a good perspective from the famale side of things.

sorry if i bored you on this post! :P

anyways heres a few of my sketches.... take note this is what im like at the moment (will keep this one updated if i can)

the octavia sketch was to copy a already done sketch that hadnt been edited on photoshop.

the taxi is one of my concept sketches.

and the random 3door hatch with no windscreen touching the a pillars to increase rigidity... apparently!

Sounds like a plan,

bet i didnt know... lol we get told everything!!!:D went into the bugatti building wich is on campus where allsorts gets developed...loads of cool computer stuff we can play with too. theres traffic lights on the doors where theres strictly no accsess when red and amber means permited accsess only, and green is when the room is empty! so its fine to stroll in.

campus is city center based the uni is built with the city center with a sh!tty ring road! im on junction 3 i think then its about a 5min walk to where most of my lectures are based:)

I saw a very cool looking prototype of something at a company in Cov a few weeks ago. They had a very strict access policy.

It was very big, had 2 doors and thats all I can say ;) (other than they're having problems welding the rear inner wings, hence, why I was there)

i did put some faces in some of them...just not the ones that are there. sorry didnt know how they felt sooo... there blank:P

I guess they're there for scale? (Not sure since I'm sure my arms and legs are longer that that LOL.) OTOH - Being two of them, I wondered if it might be cos you were thinking of Ma and Pa? I only ask as my son's off to Italy next week so I'll have a blank look too then. He's going to Rome and I think the biggest design feature for taxis (or any car for that matter) is a great big claxon hooter on the bonnet isn't it? ;)

haha yeah just a idea not exact! and mum and dad and the kid yep! they also have a suitcase...i think there off to some nice sunny place! :) dont know where tho just got a story board of the family starting at home and wanting to go on holiday, they need a cab...but the cab will loook like and must have... etc thats my project at the moment to do a cab (redesign) or replace it for 2027 an equivalent form of transportation....more ideas?!

There are so many films showing futuristic Sci Fi alterntives, but it's very difficult to envisage something only c.10 years forward :rubchin:

I guess my best bet would be one whereby a person could order a taxi by pressing a direct remote control button, rather than ringing up an office and being told "It'll be 15 mins" (read: an hour).

How does that translate to car design? I don't know. With competition becoming more prominent, perhaps a fancy aerial and complicated electronics to pick up calls and the ability to get there first, e.g. driving a Ferrari and with bull bars fitted ;)

Of course, what you're really trying to do. given an ageing demographic population, is to offer transport as per Handsome Cabs first started off as - i.e. being tall enough to accommodate top hats. Ease of accommodation could well have taken over from speed ten years from now, given that even the most fittest of us have difficulty in getting in/out of sports-styled cars.
