Featured Replies

A few of you have asked to see some pics of my manta ive managed to find one of the magazines my car was in back in 1995 when it had a previous owner. It currently is in polar white, will be spraying it in the Birtie Fisher pattern with the opel sport colour and full Birtie Fisher Livery.

New pics will come soon.

Loved those.

Great name for a car too

Nice car, look forward to seeing its new paintjob:thumbup:

i hadn't realised they had the straight 6 lump in as per pictures , must be a bit of a handful

Superb, I had a 1.8GT hatch many years ago, OK but too slow, liked rwd antics though. I always really wanted a coupe with a proper engine in it. Can't wait to see the 'now' shots.

The engine is from a carlton gsi 3000 24v non standard.

Mike! That is PORN!!!. I'll buy your chips, come to Blackpool in it :)

Cheers Dave, I look forward to your chips!

I will definately come to blackpool it. Im doing the restoration in 5 phases, once phase 1 is complete I will bring it down, its seriously quick but during the last 5 or so years it has been in a garage and neglected by the previous owners.

Very nice looking car. Mantas are cool. Speaking of which, if anyone can point me in the direction of pictures of a really nuts Manta I'd appreciate it. Its bright orange/red, with big wheels, and the best bit is that it seems to have a tubular front sections, as the top of the suspension struts actually show through the bonnet... if someone can find me a link with piccys I'll be a happy bunny!

Ill see what I can find.

No, its more of an orangey colour than that. And the struts actually come through the bonnet.

I was really tempted by this, seemed to have real trouble selling it and it was on ebay a fair while back now - can't remember if it sold or not.

That is superb! I used to be into Capri's, but also had respect for the Manta's (although in regular production form GM never seemed to put big enough engines into them)

Years ago I had a really good chat with this gentleman at the Uxbridge Motor Show - I had a turbo'd 2.1 L Capri at the time so it was handy to compare notes! Lovely presentation

Pete's Opel Manta

I thought the 400's were Rover V8 powered (although couldn't understand how GM would go for a rival manufacturer's motor) - wonderful to see the proper job in your pics. That GSI lump is quite something, in the Carlton's it pushes them tonearly 150mph - must be quite a stonker in the Manta!

That looks epic
