Mine did this so I got a nerd round who thought it was a driver issue. Sent laptop back to Tosh and they said drivers are fine, it's a software problem. In the end, I had to wipe the HD and do a master reset. Have you tried a system restore from a month ago?

You won't be able to do a 'System Restore', because to do so you need to get XP to load.

If you've got your Windows XP CD-ROM, you could get the PC to boot from the XP CD, then choose the "Repair" option. This might find and rectify the problem.

Did you do anything to the PC at all the last time you used it? Install anything? Was it making any "funny noises" at all? Your hard-disk could well be goosed.

Thanks for all the replies fellas..... I'll try and boot from the XP CD and do a repair as suggested and see what happens.

I think it might have something to do with the fact the kids have been using the PC recently and have a nasty habit of pressing the off button as opposed to shutting down properly. Will have to smack there hands - again.
