Pictures of after market stereos

Featured Replies

I have just picked up my MY2004 Octavia vRS and am thinking about changing the standard stereo as I want a direct iPOD link.

I know a lead is available for the standard unit but it is very expensive, and I have seen an Alpine unit I quite like, but wanted to see a few pictures if people have them of aftermarket stereos fitted to a MK1 Octavia.

Thanks

I was going to do this but blank cds are cheap and I want to leave the dash looking OEM.

I too prefer the OEM look, but want the iPOD conenction.

I guess whether an aftermarket HU looks OK depends on colour and also illumination colour.

I have an alpine unit in mine and it looks quite good. Its the 9850Ri with Ipod cable. I'll post a pick tonight

Many thanks auroan, looks good.

Am I right in thinking the ilumination colour is changeable?

Am I right in thinking you only need the aerial booster and not a wiring loom as well, as the iso connectors on the Alpine plug straight in?

I run my iso connections via the parrot hands free kit, but as far a I can remember you don't need an iso adaptor. You do how ever need aerial booster unless you live and do all your driving in a city with high signel strengths.

You can change the illumination between blue and red.

You will need to switch the live feed or get the VW wiring adapter so you keep your station memory and dont blow the vag-com port if anything is connected to it

Sorry about the rubbish quality picture....its lunch time and my phone camera is shoddy...

I run a Pioneer DEH-P7700MP with some MBQuart PCE-216 component fronts and some Infinity Component rears, coupled with a fosgate amp and Kicker sub....I also run a Parrot CK3100 and the Pioneer Ipod adapter which I can reccomend...I have on good authority that the Alpine one is better though...

ohawkins.... where did you run the cabling fro the parrot from ?

I put the wiring between the top part of the dash and the bottom part, I'll sort some better shots out for you. Also I mounted the mic at the top of the A pillar after running the mic wire behind the cover panel, It was a pain up the proverbial but its nice and clean.....just be careful not to mark the dash when you push the cabling into the gap, I used biro pen lid.....worked a treat!

I think I'll stick with where I put mine. The install wasn't the most fun afternoon I've ever had (but of paddying and swearing occured).

Gonna have to pull the head unit out again anyway, as I forgot to plug the illumination cable in

I feel your pain, I have an Ipod adapter, 3 x RCA,s, the parrot kit, tomtom hard wired its like someone is having a party behind the dash!

Ah well, we all like our toys right?

blimey bet you had fun

heres my clarion dvd/cd headunit

Thanks Guys, will be going down the new HU route once I have the other issues sorted with the vehicle as mentioned on another thread.

have you looked on apples website for the i trip.

mine plugs into the sig lighter and i leave the ipod in the arm rest. it also charges the ipod as well as giving off a radio signal. it cost me around 35 squid.

Not an Octavia - but if you want OEM look - Becker is the way forward! :D
