I've noticed for sometime now that if I have full tank that performance from my Octy is good......however half a tank and below peformance feels a little flat....nothing drastic...just doesn't feel as good as when the tanks full.

Is this normal or is something not quite right?

It should be the other way round, Adrian, given that the car gets lighter as fuel is used. I await possible explanations with interest.....

i thik it could be a fuel pressure issue.. the std regulator and pump are weak especially on a tuned car. mine is also faster with a full tank.....

Cheers Paul......at least this confirms I haven't been imagining it.

Anyone know if there's an uprated regulator and pump available?

What would the cost be?

TIA.

RS4 fuel pump and FPR and some big injectors....

Well you aint the only one -- had noticed this, thought I was mistaken - abviously not - there is a definate - if slight difference between full and nearly empty - not quite sure why - the pressure reg should keep a steady feed at any level

I can't believe it! I thought I'd imagined this too!

I think I've found out why I look forward to filling the car (sad, isn't it) and why I enjoy the ride home from the filling station now!! :D

Seriously, if I put the 4bar FPR on the car will it help??? And is the

RS4 FPR a 4bar-er???

At this rate by this time next week it'll be on Watchdog and we'll all be demanding a recall.

What's that noise coming from the back end? Did you hear that?

Paranoid? Moi?

Well it looks like I'm going have to do some investigation into this.

Dave (Skodaw - hiya m8, you put yourslef down for the trackday yet?), any chance finding out how much an RS4 fuel pump is?

Cheers.

Adrian.

Okay, it's just me then that thinks my vRS is faster when the tank is running low .

Sounds right - if you go for bigger injectors you probably need a remap - but ask Des about that before leaping in the dark ... ;)

I guess the ECU will learn (within limits) that it doesn't need such big injector pulses with the higher pressue (which begs the question - what is the standard FPR (and pump) rated at? Anyone?).

20VTurbo.com lists some part numbers which may be of use but are offered here as is. The info on performance, ie pressure/flow rate, apparently comes from RossTech.

078 133 534C Pressure regulator (4.0bar FPR) - part is listed on ETKA for Superb AWT/AZH 1.6/2.0 petrol engines -

Is there anything specific I would have to do when changing a fuel pump, or is it just a case of removal and fitment?

Cheers.

Adrian.

Hello guys

I have changed the stock fpr to a 3.5 bar fpr and the stock fuel pump to a Tyrol Sport high flow fuel pump.

Everything works fine up to now, soon I am going for a dyno to check the effects (if any) to my a/f ratio and of course to horsepower and torque. From what I feel, I think I have better response in mid rpms, but nothing very obvious. The fuel pump is more noisy, specially when it's cold.

Anymore developments re: this fuel pump thing? Adrian?

Haven't looked into this anymore Rich but seeing as this isn't in search of more power, an S4 fuel would suffice.

I guess you'd only need the FPR, injectors and remap is you were search for more power.

Sixty something quid sounds OK for just the pump.

I am not imagining this!

Is that the price or that on half tank or less the car feels less responsive?
