Want New Octavia Vrs

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Back in March i got my first glimpse of new octavia vrs, a black one in our local skoda dealers showroom. Fell in love immediately. Week later took a test drive, lasted about 10 mins, didnt really get good feel for the car although did enjoy the short time i did drive it. Presently own a Black VW bora 1.9tdi sport 115 bhp which i plan to sell in new year and upgrade to new vrs. I average around 42 mpg, mainly driving to and from work on hilly windy b roads, as over here in ireland most of us reside in the sticks! I know there are a lot of knowledgeable people who post on this forum and im just wondering if they could give me an idea, based on information given what sort of fuel consumption figures i would be looking at? The other question i had was is the new octy vrs worth the bigger fuel bill but i feel i know the answer to that question already!:)

regards,

Sean

Yup, you pretty well summed it up there mate!. Get yourself one and don't look at the fuel bill!! :D

Welcome to the forum btw.

Welcome to the forums,

If your concerned about the fuel bill why dont you go for the new Diesel Octy VRS?

Hello amd welcome.

The fuel bill jsut blends into the background and sits firmly behind your grin.

Ive considered this too, but having got a drive in an evo 8 my cousin owned, i just love the way petrol cars drive and the sound of that thing, lethal! Plus, i think my wallet may not stretch as far as the diesel version too. I may consider sweetening the car up down the line and i dont like the massive amount of torque down the rev range in a diesel, especially after a map. would a petrol car mapped offer better mpg?

Hi & welcome,

Very unlikely to get better mpg after a remap, might be the same at best

but lets face it, you have a remap for one reason only

and you know you'r going to use it  .

Just enjoy the car & ignore the slightly extra cost:D :D :D :D

.

:iagree:

would a petrol car mapped offer better mpg?

Potentially, due to being able to make use of more torque/power lower down in the rev range to select a higher gear in a given situation :D However, if you drive it like it's stolen all the time then you'll be collecting even more Shell Points

cheers lads for the advice. think im gonna bite the bullet and worry about fuel bills later, sure if i runout of cash i can hit swmbo for a sub  . Think it'll be a cracking car and with two kids in the back ill be behaving most of the time neway ;) Will purchase in new year when i sell the bora. hopefully get in and around 4k for her ono. Is this bit steep given its a 2001 1.9tdi sport black 115 bhp 6 spd gearbox with 122k?

You do mean 4k euros?? :-)

ps Thanks to every1 for welcome!

Glasses Guide:-

2001/X Bora 1.9tdi sport - 115hp with 59k

Retail(forecourt) - £5500

Trade In - £4300

As yours has 122k on the clock, you have to knock off £1275, therefore:-

Retail(forecourt) - £4225

Trade In - £3025

So you will be hard pushed to get £4k for it, but you never know! - Good luck!

Dont rule out diesel without trying it first -

Cheers JC, think ill be selling it privately, autotrader, what bout 3,800, advertise for 4,000 ono

Depends how long you want it hanging around.

Autotrader is the best place to sell in my opinion, If you don't mind waiting, I've recently sold my Mk1 Octavia vRS on there and I know i got a better price on there than I would of on ebay.

I just looked at the prices of the vRS's on there and pitched mine in the middle. So it may be worth while looking at what sort of price they are before you advertise. I'm sure you would have done that anyway!

Best of luck!
