Uprated bulbs?

R the bulbs easy to replace on a mk1 vrs

Easy peasy! 2 min job in daylight or 5 min job in dark!!

As long as you don't have Xenon Dipped beams they are easy to change.

As said 5 minutes even under torch light :)

Ive been wanting to upgrade mine for ages, i live in the sticks so driving at night with the standard bulbs is a nightmare, although the roads are like a rally stage, you cannot see even with a co pilot :)

So i would be interested in the Phillips Rally Plus 55/100w, or poss the Osram Silverstars, however, my question is, do you have to upgrade the wires? i can remember on some older cars if you put in the more powerful bulbs it could burn out the wires, hows the Octy vRS for this?

Also, how do you tell if you have the Xenon Dipped beams?

Osram Silverstar and Phillips Vision plus 50% brighter bulbs definately work just fine off standard wiring.

A few people have mentioned PowerBulbs - I've used them in the past, too, and would second everybody's votes. I've also recently come across Consumabulbs.

I just wanted to report on the very positive customer service experience I just had. I ordered a set of LED bulbs a few weeks ago but one recently developed a peculiar flicker. I phoned Consumbulbs and the guy answered straight away. I described the problem and said he didn't know what would cause that fault, but offered (without me asking) to send me a replacement. The whole phone call lasted less than a minute. Full marks!

Off Topic, but will:

Why not come to the Maidstone meet a week from today?? Thread in the South East section.

  • 2 weeks later...

Bit of an update:

I got some Ring RallySport bulbs from Demon Tweeks last week.

Their H4's 55/100w

Cheap too at only

N% brighter relates to light received at a specific range; can't remember what the range is though.

I had 30% brighter dips in one car for about 3 years.

Try the 80% brighter philips ones, some silverstars if you havn't or some phillips vision plus/GT150... very birght.

Is it possible to change OE D2S to 6000K D2S bulbs without changing the ballast????
