Phone call from dealer at 17:40 car ready for collection. Like I'm gonna go through rush hour traffic tonight and fetch it. Pick it up tomorrow to see if I can break it again. Will keep you all informed cause I guess there's not a lot left to replace other than the car itself (if it does go wrong that is).

rag it to death tomorrow !!!

Yep might aswell see what else you can break, they can't exactly blame you for the dudd car!

Bonus............... dealer fixed my creaking/cracking dash vents whilst car in so at least thats one item off the 'To Do' list. Car drives ok at the mo but then again only done 8 miles in rush hour traffic. Will fill you all in next week after some motorway miles.

I suppose someone had to get the Friday afternoon / Monday morning car!!

Seems like my car has done the same as TOMO2001's car although mine didn't run on after switching off the ignition but the garage say all the oil has gone...strangely the coolant was still on the minimum level despite my original problem being coolant loss, maybe the water put the fire out in the cylinders  :D

it did make an AWFUL lot of white smoke though, approaching cars needed their headlights on

Looks like I have a 3-4 week wait for new engine/turbo/intercooler/exhaust :(

Oh, and my car has just 14,281 miles on it (first reg Jul 2005)

Mine was going so well until now............. drove home on M1 yesterday afternoon when something sounded like it had been flicked up off the road and was banging under the car as I passed over it. Looked out of my rear view mirror to see something disappearing into the distant horizon.

Left for work early this morning circa 0700 and travelled approx. 5 miles when there was a banging noise under the car and it sounded like I was suddenly driving a dragster!! Stopped and looked underneath the car to find that the exhaust had split apart (brand new system).

Parked outside dealers at 0720 waiting for 8 o'clock opening. Car taken in almost straight away and I was told the part that I ran over yesterday was the exhaust clamp falling off. My response was maybe they should leave exhaust fitting to Kwik Fit. As you may be aware this saga is starting to wear a bit thin now and I get more and more disgruntled with my all too frequent dealer visits.

3-4 weeks?? Your too optimistic!! Don't bet on it..........................

oh well, at least they've given me an Octavia not a Roomster or anything like that...

The magazine who have just made the Octy no.1 in the UK obviously don't know about our cars!! ROFL

I swapped an 02 BMW 330d sport touring for mine as I was fed up with the awful reliability I was getting at just over 4 years old and 80,000 miles (so out of warranty)...

81k miles - auto gearbox expired -

Yes, there's only one common thing in that equation I'm afraid!!

lol, what a way to add insult to injury.

Ok so now the exhaust has been fitted correctly I've driven the car for over 300 miles and touch wood she's behaved herself. No throwing wobblies with limp mode and actually the car feels a lot quicker than before. MPG also back up where it should be. The road testing continues..............

So tomo2001..... whats your reg. Cause I for one don't want to buy the car when it comes up on the second hand market ;)

What do you mean?? LOL - It's had a fortune spent on it, it's like brand new now the list is as follows;

Flywheel clutch and clutch release bearing replaced (under recall notice)

Engine, turbo, intercooler and full exhaust system replaced

Starter motor replaced

ECU and another turbo fitted (after limp mode problems)

What a buy for someone in 12 months time when the lease is up!! Anyone got any ideas how much this little lot would have come to, cause it would have been painful out of warranty.

I agree, its potentially a very good car now.

What a saga Tomo, my fingers are crossed for you fella... You're more patient than me, thats for sure.

I'm afraid I wouldn't be as patient if the car was my own!!

Latest news.... Received phone call today from Skoda UK saying that they thought its unlikely that I would want any accessories for my vehicle as it is a company car.

They then asked me what I would like as a goodwill gesture. Obviously I was stuck to think of something off the top of my head so I ask the question to you lot on here.

What would you consider an adequate 'Goodwill Gesture' for your car being off the road for 14 weeks?? - Serious answers only please!! (Car accessories or not).

Some nice things in the Skoda merchandise catalogue.

Jackets, t shirts, bike ;)

Discount off a new one? I know it is a company car, but you may want one for yourself or a friend;)

The bike looks tempting as well.

Bit pricey those bikes don't you think??

Which is why you would ask for one:D

Can you get an ipod connector that still allows you to use the CD changer?

Some merchandise or similar, a decent discount, who knows.

Perhaps an order code for one built properly as it really does seem that the MK II has so many minor and a few more major faults :( It is very disappointing compared to the MK I in this respect.
