Anyone know what 'dieseling' means

Featured Replies

Just had another thought, IF it was still delivering fuel, could you not pop the rear bench up, lift the fuel pump cover, and disconnect fuel pump connector from fuel pump housing?

I would think the pump on the engine would still draw fuel up. You could disconnect the line though.

But usually its not running on diesel, its running on oil.

I see, i should just keep the pie hole shut shouldnt i lol

Yes in fact mine was running on engine oil not diesel.

Roomster is 'pants' by the way, not as roomy as name suggests.............. have to drive with balaclava on so friends don't spot you!!

For my sins I have been condemned to a van with windows - the Roomster......... I will update you all on my test drive experience but feel that it would be more at home at the Vatican.

Todays news hot off the press from the dealers.

Spoke to them late afternoon. Apparently they have tried some pointers from Skoda technical and have now found that they can overcome my cars warm starting issue.

When the car is warmed up and it then fails to start, if they then unplug the temperature sensor the car starts ok. However the temperature sensor has been changed and the wiring checks out ok.

They are now in the process of changing the ECU as recommended by Skoda.

Apparently these are very pricey so they are trying one off their own demo car first before ordering one for my car.

Does this make sense??

Will post an update when available.

It does mean they wont have an expensive ECU sat on the shelf if it is not the cause of the problem.

Yep, sounds sensible to me.

It is of course possible that the new sensor is faulty also...

Latest update - just off the phone from the dealers.

Got a similar car to mine parked at the side, currently being used as a donor car with all sorts of parts being swapped across.

  1. Temperature sensor changed - no improvement.
  2. Wiring checked out - no faults found.
  3. ECU swapped - my car still fails to start when hot.
  4. Ocilloscope connected to both cars and totally different readings taken regarding the temperature sensors.

Service manager says they have absolutely no idea what is causing the fault and the technician continues to relay information back and forth with Skoda Technical.

Only 5days to go and car will have been off the road for 2 months!!

Any techies on here got any bright ideas - Lummox maybe??

Suggest that skoda give you a comparable car as a replacement as a good will gesture?

I am sure they will want to find out what on earth has gone wrong and they can always sell your current car on when they have it fixed.

Hope you get it sorted out soon. All I can say it only a matter of time and process of elimanation. Hope they are sorting out a curtesay car?

No ideas myself.

But it does sound like they are trying thier hardest.

Thanks for response - just losing patience now.

Bearing in mind my company is leasing this car at 'X'amount of pounds per month and I am also paying tax on this car yet I'm driving round in a sub standard vehicle.

Todays news................

Skoda Technical now 'suggesting' it could be the fuel pump holding pressure but you need a special tool to check this.

Delay now is the availability of said tool.

Comments welcome.

Well as you say, you are paying for such a car, and are not getting the privilege of driving it... Whilst it sounds like they are doing there best, I'd insist on a decent courtesey car.

I've got a feeling he'd have to speak to the lease company about that, rather than the dealership.

i feel sorry for the techies trying to fix it , there is nothing worse than being stuck on a car with a problem you just can't find , and probably not earning bonus as well , flat weeks wages sucks

Bonus ? do techies get bonuses based on how many cars they 'fix' ?

Is that why workmanship has dropped at some places because they rush jobs to get more done ?

Yes, and possibly.

As far as I understand it, (at Skoda atleast) most jobs have a "time" that Skoda think they can be completed in. If you can finish the job quicker then you get a bonus.

Thats disgusting, no wonder cars have to go back to dealerships more often because the haven't fixed the fault that it first came in for.

You could fix that by saying you only get the bonus if the car doesn't come in for a similar or related fix again to any dealership in the next 3-6 months.

True, depending on who pays the bonus..... as dealerships are only franchises so you can't always say that the one dealership will have anything to do with another, apart from representing Skoda.

Yep but there is a computer system that logs what work is done, so skoda should be able to track if a lot of your work is being re done.

No news today so I guess mines still broken

Even worse I must be possessed............... I've broken my Roomster loan car.

When you start the car you get a warning sound - 3 bongs and the coolant temperature/level symbol flashes at you. Checked level which is bang on so I'm guessing fault with temp sender or similar.

Is this a known fault on the 3cylinder 1.4TDI anybody??
