Ooops spoke to soon again.

Drove 90 miles to place of work today, car absolutely superb. Drove home later this afternoon and having travelled 25 miles car lost all power whilst in lane 3 on the motorway. The car wouldn't rev above 3k and when I geared down from 6th to 4th it was the same, again sticking to 3k revs. Pulled over to hard shoulder and put car in neutral and the engine would rev freely. Set off again and exactly the same fault where car wouldn't go faster than about 60mph/3k revs.

Spoke to dealer whilst driving (hands free of course) who asked me to pull over and switch off the engine, leave for a minute or two and set off again.

Hey presto the car was ok again.

Anybody with any ideas as to cause of fault as no warning lights came on - is this limp mode??

Dealer asked me to continue driving the car to see if it re-occurs and make a note of time/date etc. but to me this is a major safety issue when on the motorway.

Oh dear, sorry to hear that.

That's exactly what my car has been doing for the last month on and off..... I was told to 'monitor' it and try to get it to the dealer when in 'limping' mode with the engine running so they could diagnose why it had done it. Sods Law means it's only happened either when I'm on my way to work and can't drive to Winchester (or any other dealer for that matter) or it happens when they're not open.

Yesterday the Exhaust system warning light came on and won't go off so I rang again and they said get it to them when I can but that it may go off again if it's dirt on a sensor that drops off it. I hope to get it to them Thurs/Fri this week.

By the way, I can turn the engine off at a roundabout give way point then restart immediately and it drives normally for a random amount of time but it is a bit dangerous as you say.

Oh forgot to mention......... got home and decided to lift bonnet to see shiny new components underneath. Closed bonnet and sat in car messing about with various things. Amazingly front wipers & washer had stopped working. Slammed car door shut, swore a few times and went in house to call dealer. Was asked had I by any chance had bonnet lifted as wipers have a safety switch on the bonnet catch which means they don't work if the bonnet was open at all but mine was closed fully - said it must be a sticking switch. Later on wipers started working again.

Gutted mate :(

I would think there would be have to be a pretty big goodwill gesture.

Free upgrade to a new L&K?

Car went in to limp mode yet again today, no warning. Overtook lorry on dual carriageway, dropped back into nearside lane and when accelerator pressed again - limp mode, no more than 3k rpm. Try to get to dealers this week.

Oh No.

My 2.0 TDi went into limp mode a few weeks ago and the glow lights came on then followed a short spell of limp mode until the engine warning light came on. I took it to thee dealers who at first weren

Just decided, my car is doing my box in.

Just decided, my car is a big pile of czech dog poo.

Surely enough is enough.

Car in the dealers AGAIN. Got loan car for 1 week.

Why don't they just give you a new one and take yours back for the bods to work out what the hell is wrong with it?

The info alone would be worth more than the car and they could sell it on if they fixed it and wanted to.

My thoughts exactly, wonder what the goodwill gesture is up to now??

Courtesy call from service manager, apparently the next part to be changed on my vehicle is the engine management unit. It arrives Weds/Thurs so all being well back in the car for Fri. (Fingers crossed of course!!)

Running up quite a large repair bill don't you think? Anyone care to guesstimate total amount.................

Can you list the parts changed plus any labour times you have been given :)

**NEW**

2.0 TDI 'Short' engine + Fluids

Turbo

Intercooler

Full Exhaust system

Throttle control body

Starter motor

Engine management unit

Estimated 4 weeks labour.

Eh? 4 weeks labour?

Or do you mean four weeks to get the parts in.

2 days max for that lot work wise. We have been doing a lot of the 2.0 oil pressure failures again, turbo is the first sign of failure usually. Oddly enough they don't bring up the oil pressure light. There is a balancer shaft assembly in the sump that is also linked with the oil pump drive gear, this lot is just coming apart. A right pain on a 170bhp PD in an EOS I tell you.

They spent days fault finding my starting problem so I guess that wouldn't be normally chargeable then??

My boss phoned Skoda UK to tell them my car was back in at the dealers having engine management replaced.......... Skoda Uk weren't aware of this. Do they speak to the dealerships?

Weekly update, car had new ECU fitted last Thursday and has been driven by the dealership for 400miles with no re-occurance of the limp mode fault. However service manager not happy with noise from new turbo so that is being replaced as I type this note. Should be re-united with my own car again tomorrow!! Not a bad job overall considering it broke down just before xmas

another turbo.... blimey, it must be getting to the point where it would be cheaper to give you another car

That's my argument still!!
