GTI Edition 30 in Waste of Money Shocker!

The Wheels are awful. I agree with their statement. More like a Golf 1.6 with aftermarket alloys.

I thought the wheels were the best bit! lol. I'd like to see it in metallic black, or silver, that red looks really really cheap.

You'd be a fool to buy one just because of the extra BHP considering what some have done with the 2.0 TFSI engine with a simple remap and panel filter

They still give it four stars, though, despite saying it's not worth the money - no badge snobbery there, then?!

I liked the wheels to be honest....... Although my last car was a Polo GTi which had similar BBS alloys factory fitted, So i'm probably a little biased.

My biggest gripe on the current Golf & Polo GTi's is the horrid seat fabric pattern!!!!!

It's like bein' in a Bay City Rollers fan's car!!!

Cheers

Dave.

I think the wheels look superb - they're BBS CHs aren't they?

But yeah, an awful lot of money for some wheels, a remap, a badge and having the bottom of the rear bumper sprayed!

Oh I'd imagine if your a mega Golf GTI fan it will be a must have - but if your just after a decent hot hatch (that happens to be a Golf) I'd go for a standard GTI plus a few chosen mods

Although the big advantage of the special edition is it comes with a warranty, which the "few chosen mods" would invalidate :D

:iagree:

was just about to say this :)

the vast majority of people wouldn't know what a remap is and even if they did they wouldn't want it. they would want a factory standard car with an unequivical warranty that VW could never argue with that a modified golf would never have.

but lets look at it seriously though, for a little bit under £2,000 you get more power, more torque, .5 seconds quicker to 60, half leather interior, 18" wheels as standard instead of cost option(and what i think are nicer wheels but obviously MHO) and colour coded lower bumpers instead of the stupid black bits. to me thats £2000 well spent as you keep all the warranty and full back-up from VW. if you bought a normal GTi and added the bits that this one has you'd not only lose your warranty but spend a hell of a lot more money.

wheels need to be 19's IMO, and the Golf just looks crap as a 5 door anyway!

i actually like it, yes 19" wheels would have been better but still! warranty on a higher bhp car, sounds good to me tbh.

and also is it a simple remap or have the done other things, not saying it is in this case but its not always just a simple map tweak!

just as the new S3 with 265bhp internals, turbo etc are different.

i like it anyways :)

The wheels didn't even look like 18's to me on the first picture, had to reread it  The Golf GTI will always be a winner in my eyes but VW will never give much away if they don't have to.

That 'stupid black bit' on the back of the Golf V looks **** (unless you buy a Black one!) - it should be colour coded on the whole range!

Save the cash and buy a Seat Leon Cupra with the same engine for the same price as the normal GTi

I agree with Roo :D

All of the above

And some preferable residuals over the 'standard' GTI to boot.

Reviews aren't too hot though are they. I know it's all down to personal taste but the press would have us believe the Cupra isn't as good as we might hope.

It looks gay though, If it looked as good as the old one then maybe!

You Fool, thats what the original 1976 seats were like, it's retro chic...........don't you know anything :D

Oddly enough the two GTI 30's i've seen havent had those wheels on. They have had the regular 18's but they are black/anthracite.

edit, like this..

Now that looks the Dogs DooDahs!

That looks terrible! Looks like a badly done photoshop!

Chris

Still looks awful..
