Hi, newbie with 2003 Octavia vRS

Featured Replies

I bought this yesterday in Edinburgh from a Skoda dealer. I think it's possible the previous owner is on this forum but I'm not 100% sure. I collect the car in 2 weeks time.

The car has 59k miles on the clock, is black and appears to be in good condition.

Service history is up to date and the timing belt was changed in October this year.

I've traded in my Clio 172 after 10 months of happy ownership and fingers crossed the vRS will be as good or better.

Thinking about getting it remapped within the next 4-5 months.

Welcome to the site

Pop some of the reg plate in the 'Was it You' section - see if anyone owns up to owning it before you :D

Hope it proves to be a worthy successor to the 172 for you...

Steve

Thanks for the welcome

The car had a private plate on it prior to me buying it. I've posted a thread in that section and it'll be good to find out if the previous owner is on this forum. From what I could gather he now owns a Fabia.

The dealer confirmed the car will be ready this Saturday :)

Welcome! And watch these guys, they'll have you modding the car by next week.

Assuming you're easily led like I am :)

Collected it and love it :) The power delivery from low revs is excellent in comparison to the Clio 172 it replaces. Very impressed so far and from higher speeds it definitely feels like it'd leave the Clio behind. If it's this good at standard then I'd love to see what it's like after a remap :)

Cruise control is great, as are the rear parking sensors.

The dealership had filled the petrol tank full which was great, replaced the front tyres and all brake disks. 10/10 so far for customer service. My previous car purchases have always been from large retailers like Arnold Clark etc who are atrocious in comparison and never replace things on the car without having had them pointed out by me beforehand. Even then they usually grudge anything.

Some pics of my new car :) The car seats were still drying from the valet at the dealers which is why the drivers seat is covered.

Looks good, is the black one fast

Tis very fast, I was actually surprised at how fast it is. Didn't think it'd feel much different than my 172 but it definitely does.

Very nice car, looks good in black :)

No chance it has been re-maped?

Would not suprise me if it was a member's car!

According to the dealer I bought it from the car is standard, if so then I look forward to the results of the remap when I get around to doing it :)

Go for JabbaSport remap mate. I'm at 227.1 bhp and very happy with my minor mods made so far to get that power. Love the vRS :D Only prob i have is i wore the clutch out but i get a Helix performance clutch and lightened and balanced flywheel fitted next week so it's all good lol. I get a few guys in Motherwell to do all the work on ma motor. Defo recommend them if ur thinking mods mate. Like that colour, makes me wish mines was black instead of boring silver...

My VRS is with the dealer today getting some work done to it that they never had the time for before collection. As a courtesy car they have given me a Roomster, it's terrible :D The 1.4 engine has easily managed to remind me of how much power the VRS has. The 1.4 struggles to reach 70mph on the motorway, especially in these high winds.

1.4 petrol or TD?

Also it doesn't surprise me that it struggles, it is a bit like an MPV, i.e. too high and wind sensitive :)

Looks good, is the black one fast

All black vRS Octavias are fast :D:D:D

Especially after a remap. Think it's fast now? Remapped it'll blow your mind :thumbup:

I recommend Star Performance :):)

Hi matchmaker, I'm sure I may well see your car as I am in Stirling every so often, used to work there till 5 years ago. I think I'll definately use Star Performance when the time comes for the remap :)

The Roomster is the 1.4 petrol and is very slooooooow :D

I got pulled over on the way home from Stirling last night by the police after having followed me for 2 miles. They ID checked me and informed me that the area I was in has had a increase in theft of high performance cars. Nice to know they hold my car in such high regards smiley.gif Thankfully my private plate transfer completed last Thursday and the car is now in my name. It's worth noting the police were also driving a Octavia.

TOUCHE' - :drivesaf: Can't wait for our local unmarked traffic unit/s to pull me over, as i think they'll have a heart attack when they realise it's a diesel version...........

Does anyone know how many Vrs cars they have in Hampshire? I've seen at least 3 of them so far.

Think a thread on Police Vrs patrol cars would be a good talking point - anyone??

I found a traffic police forum which made for good reading when I was trying to decide if I should buy a vRS. Most of them loved it.
