Jabba WILL be mapping my car and Allard made their position clear on the turbo, etc, and I am doing this with full understanding. Jabba have come a long way since they mapped mine first time (I was the first "big" turbo TDI to my knowledge) and so I have more confidence in a solid clean map this time around. Also it comes down to cash - Allards would have wanted a lot to map the car in comparison to what I hope to pay to Jabba to do some tweakage of their own software.

I should also add their is no Allard Vs Jabba rivalry, etc. Alan @ Allards knows Mike and the boys at Jabba from the days they all raced in some competition years back, when Jabba raced in a white Golf. (pictures on the wall at Jabba ;)) So Allards were quite happy to let me go back there, but I had to understand that the turbo would be in my hands, so to speak - even though both Allard and me know this turbo is one of the most solid well built hybrids out there, and Jabba's map lasted plenty long enough on my VT2, and now another Briskodian is going to be using it. I was really impressed at the condition of the VT2 after 35k oin my car. No movement in any compressor wheels, and looked in great nick visually. :D

Now, no more about this Allard Vs Jabba. I use one for hardware, one for software - end of. :D

Allard are only a quick hop down the M5 for me being in Malvern, so I may just end up going for their setup allround. Visited them just before xmas and was impressed.

Not wishing to set any more 'vs.' debates off, but nobody has been able to explain to me why some of the jabba tdi torque figures top 400ft torque when all the other packages i've looked into stick around the 360 mark. I think i saw one figure of 420+ on their FVRS posted somwhere. how the hell do you put that down through the fabias fwd!? :eyepop:

I wasn`t having a go at Jabba as such and i don`t care who maps or fits hardware to your car mate as it`s your money. Anyone who gets the hardware fitted at one company then mapped by another company especially if they don`t know the spec of the hardware is taking a big risk no matter what tuning company is involved. It`s very risky not rebelous and for little if any gain if your doing it just for a few hundred pound saved in getting Jabba to map your car by the time you count in fuel and time going to them just to map it. As long as your happy do what you want mate as it`s your car and money but i wouldn`t do it.

I'm just a stick-in-the-mud :D I like a tune-up done on a rolling road, and they will know the spec of the car as I'll tell them - I might even hang about to adjust the lpg regulator if Mike needs more/less of it. All in all, I do reckon I will get a good outcome.

You will need to adjust the propane to get the right mixure. To little and you will not get top power and to much and you will get pre-detonation, speak to WW_VRS about that.:o

I don`t think of you as a stick in the mud Jason more of a stubburn old basta...

Easy the foot on the right is prgressive

and with the aid of the diff and sticky tyres it copes quite nicely thank you,

if you dont believe it come and have a go im sure you would be impressed!!!!!

We have done 10 of these "hybrid turbo" kits on Golfs, Fabias, Leons and Ibizas in the past 3 months, so we must be doing something rite

We do know the Allards from before they were "known" as diesel tuners, we have raced them in the VW cup, and we are Very confident in there work enough said!!!!!

so it can't put 420lbft down then?

if you have to limit the amount of power you can use with your foot then it cannot use that full potential can it? i do't see the point in having over 400lbft in a FWD car as it will never be able to put it all down.

take a look at Badger Bill's Ibiza and how he's had it mapped, not lots of mid range torque but lots of high end power so its a lot more useable and in the end far faster.

It isnt about that though, yea in the dry you cant use 1st or part of second, but even on a standard one it still spins in 1st, it is more when you get into 3rd you can let it go, it is still my sensible car (other car is a 350bhp stripped out corrado) and i still use it every day for work!!! it is just about how stupid you drive it i.e. use the torque in higher gears and the bhp in lower ones

Just so you know i went to pipe werx on monday, Ian Birch (builder of big dub) drove it and he was out for 25mins because he liked it so much, his comment when he got back was "i can drive that round here quicker than i can big dub"

also to make the power on diesels it makes massive ammounts of torque hence why we havnt limited it!!!

Hi Luke

What's the spec of your engine? Are you running any gas or lpg, or is it just big turbo/injectors?

whats big dub?

whats big dub?

The twin engine VR6 turbo mk3 golf that runs 11.2 quarters :D

its the one Vicki Butler Henderson drove on one of Clarksons videos (very quick)

Josh; the engine is completly standard with big turbo, uprated injectors, FMIC, Pd160 intake and green filter, decat downpipe and pipe werx system!!! think that is it lol

ooh and ported inlet manifold!!!! :D

I do believe you can get that much torque with a setup, i don't understand why some companies choose not to? Is there any link to the life of the engine? What diff do you have?

whats big dub?

mmmmmm Big dub...YouTube - Golf III Twin VR6 Turbo Nitro - 02

Seen it at Inters a couple of times, such an impressive bit of engineering, and goes like poo off a nicely warmed shovel.

Thing is - that's not a diesel now is it ;)

(not saying it isn't a great car though, as it is :D )

Me. or I did have last week ;) and will have again in 6 months :D

Confused :o - drop us a PM about what you've got in yours if you don't mind ;)
