Ordering heated seats in a vRS - some help please

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Just had a long discussion with both my dealer and Skoda UK regarding heated front seats in a vRS.

The long and short of it is this..... if a dealer knows what option code(s) to enter, then the car can be supplied with heated front seats. Skoda UK say they have no objection to this, and claimed to be unaware that the seats were available in the vRS.

Upon further investigation, they have acknowledged their availability, but couldn't provide my dealer with the correct option codes.

Right now, the dealer (Ashmore Green Skoda in Reading) would really like some help in finding out what option codes were used. To do this, they would ideally need the registration number (and possibly VIN) of a UK car that has heated seats.

What we are also trying to understand is if the heated seats are identical to the standard UK seats (just with heating), or if the seats are full leather (as Skoda UK suspect they might be).

If anyone out there with heated seats in their vRS would be prepared to provide the details, I'd be eternally grateful. I obviously wouldn't expect people to publish them on the forum, but if you could send me a PM, that would be great. Alternatively, I'd be happy to put you in contact with the chap at the dealer who is working on this.

Thanks again,

Bagpuss.

A bit of searching and it looks like -

4A0 = without seat heater

4A1 = seat heater, drivers seat

4A2 = seat heater, right

4A3 = seat heater for front seats separately controlled

4A4 = seat heater for front and rear seats separately controlled

4A5 = carbon seat heater

might not be what you are looking for though.

There is an owner on here with them fitted.

Maybe ask them to contact their counterparts in Ireland as I know a dealer which did order them back last Feb/March. I'm sure the Part Numbers are the same. They were for the Paint when it became available in the UK first.

Or contact Skoda Ireland on http://www.skoda-auto.ie/

You could always order it in Ireland if they don't want to spec the car you want :).

Give me a shout if you get nowhere.

@VRStu - Thanks for the codes. I'll run them by the dealer and see what it turns up.

@GAFF - I did think about this, and have mentioned to the dealer that speaking with one of their Irish counterparts might be a good idea. With regards to ordering the car in Ireland, then I can't. Mine will be a company car, and the leasing company will only use Ashmore Green as the supplier :-(

Have you tried a PM to ants, he may be able to help.

Hi

My car is a Vrs estate with heated seats.

It has individually controlled heated seats - small dials 0-5 for each seat - both sides of the climatronicx control panel.

The car has standard VRS seats - i.e leather and alcantara (not full leatrher)

As mentiioned in my previous posts - my car is from Simpsons of colne - they know how to "fool" the ordering system into getting this option.

Cheers

Steve

Hi Steve,

Your car is exactly what I'm looking for as a template for the option codes. I did call Simpsons but they weren't prepared to share with me how they 'fool' the computer.

My dealer has indicated that if he could have a registration or VIN number from a vehicle with the heated seats, then he can look in the Skoda VOS system (I think that's what he called it) and see what option codes were used to specify the heated seats.

Would you be prepared to speak with the dealer? We could continue this conversation via PM if you like.

Thanks,

Andy.

Would you be prepared to speak with the dealer?

Thanks,

Andy.

His username is ' Ants '

Try these,

Code for front heated seats is PWO

Code for front and rear heated seats is PW7

:D

Heated front and rear sounds good!

@ Bagpuss....well did the codes work ?

Any one know what the costs for front and rear heated seats are?

Thanks to all who've replied on this issue so far.

Thanks, in particular to Gaff and VRStu for providing the various option codes.

The problem is not entering the correct codes for the heated seats, but ensuring that the factory actually builds the car that way. From what I'm being told, a dealer can enter the codes but later build checks result in them being removed when the factory sees that the car is destined for the UK. It seems that some intervention is required further down the chain, to ensure that the car gets built with the heated seats.

As it stands, I'm still not sure whether my dealer is going to be able to pull this off, but I'll keep you posted.

IIRC In Ireland they are around 260 Euros for fronts & 482 Euros for fronts & rears.

It appears that the option to order heated seats on the vRS is no longer on the System... sorry!

You can do it with an NSR, Anthony.

Just done one last week for one of Fat Andrew's customers.

@John W - Could you explain what an NSR is?

@Ants - Do you know when the option disappeared, as my local dealer has been looking for it and can't find it now?

Thanks,

Bagpuss.

Hi lads, have a new vrs octavia on order in race blue with 18 inch alloys, considered getting heated seats and my dealer said they were no bother to get.I live in ireland and just wondering if english spec is slightly differant.

I can't understand why they aren't available on the Octy II vRS when they are available on the Fab vRS and always have been. What is Skoda's logic here???

NSR is an acronym for 'New Specification Request'.

In essence, it is a manual intervention into the vehicle ordering system which allows the retailer to change the spec of a 'pipeline' vehicle.

Being a manual system it is not 100% reliable but used correctly it can shorten lead times and also allow some of the less popular options to be specified.

Like heated seats on an A5 vRS, funnily enough.

Thanks for the info and I'm sure Andrew appreciates your post too!

Result!

Just spoken to the Marketing Manager at Skoda UK (a chap called Warren), and he has confirmed that heated front seats have now been added to the official UK options list for the vRS.

Option code PWO is the one to use (thanks Gaff), and they are available from yesterday.

I still don't have a price yet, but will update the thread when I do.

@VRStu - Thanks to you also. Armed with the option codes from yourself and Gaff, I was able to show that UK dealers were already doing this.

From what I understand, Skoda UK weren't offering heated seats as they believed it required a bigger alternator and a different loom. As it turns out, you don't need a different alternator, and (thanks to the wonders of CANBUS, no doubt) you don't need a different loom.

I must also thank steve06vrs for providing the VIN number for his car so that I was able to prove that there were UK cars that already had heated seats.

A positive outcome from the Briskoda membership - Brilliant.
