not happy

Featured Replies

picked my car up just now after having the fuse box replaced under warranty and although they wouldnt replace my seat cover under warranty they did offer to fit a decent second hand one foc providing that i paid the £82 labour:eek:.i reluctantly paid it as i just wanted it looking good again.

i thought it was a bit strange that they brought my car round for me and came back into the shop and left it running outside but i hopped in and started to drive home.about half way home i decided to stop in a chippy to get some tea so imagine my disgust when i got back in the car to find that it wont start and the battery is dead again, that explains why they left it running outside the shop.i then had to wait while my mother drove the 6 miles to get to me with a set of jump leads.

i have just about had enough now and am going to replace the battery myself tomorrow but i dont want to just let this go so how do i go about making a complaint to skoda about this as they obviously sent me on my way knowing that as soon as i stopped the car i wouldnt be able to restart it again, add to this the fact that they lied to me on the phone about not having a loan car available when i took the car in yet when the mechanic told them it couldnt be driven they magically found that they had not one but two available and then had the nerve to charge me £15+vat for the insurance.so here i am once again with a car sat on the drive that is once again undrivable.

i am not a happy bunny,advice appreciated.

can I suggest that you call skoda uk customer servces. when I delt with them direct they were very intrested in what I had to say about a dealer and they followed up with me to see if the problem had been soughted. to give you an idea how good they were when I phoned up complaining about the dealer who had done a **** job and told them that I had arranged to take it to another dealer the following morning the original dealer was on the phone appologising and grovelling!

Sounds like you've been pretty badly done to there Jas - good luck with customer services.

I would recomend that you don't change the battery yourself. Have it recovered back to them and ask them to put a battery on it.

if the technician had had any sense he would put the battery on charge for as long as possible whilst it was in the workshop , but then the battery could be FUBARed , no excuse not to ring you up and explain that the battery is goosed ,do you want a new one fitting , though

i would deffo kick off to customer services about this

I had my seat repaired under warranty jas so stick to your guns and get everything sorted.

i just wish that i had the time to actually do that but i desperately need my car all over the weekend so just have not got the time to be messing around with the aa who i know will just give me a jump start and expect me to drive it into the dealers anyway,as they did this time.then i expect i will get the usual story of batterys arent covered under warranty blah blah and will end up getting charged twice as much for a battery fitted from them as i would pay for one at halfords which is just down the road from me.to be honest i just want the car sorted but this has definately left a sour taste in my mouth as far as main dealers go as the reason for me paying top whack from a dealer was for the peace of mind of knowing that any problems would be quickly sorted but these particular main dealers are just acting like a back street dealer.

anybody got any contact details for skoda uk customer services.

Try the search you'll find the contact details mate. Good luck, they've always been fine with me.

Sorry to hear about your problems, I think the dealer you're using must be a one off as most people on here normally speak quite highly of thier local dealers, I can only praise my local one (Robert Bamfords in Gloucester) where warranty work is concerned, the biggest of which was both front wheel bearings failing within 60 miles of each other @ 27000 miles with only 3 days left to run on the warranty. I took the car to them on the Monday morning, they had the car in Tuesday morning and I had it back by 3pm the same day, they also provided a free loan car and even washed it before I collected it. I had a few things done under warranty with them and the service was always the same, so I would definatly get onto customer services and have a bit of a rant (in a polite way because it's not thier fault you've been treated so poorly).

For your info Skoda customer services No is 08457 745 745 and are open 8.30-6pm Mon to Fri, and 9 till 12.30 Sat

There is a new skoda dealer just opened where i used to live, however my local area was bereft of a good skoda dealer and when you took your car in they only made things worse or denied any problem existed.

There are some good dealers out there, however there are also some very very poor dealers too.

perhaps i was a bit quick to condemn the dealer as after a quick call to them for a rant they were very apologetic and told me not to fit a battery myself as they will sort it for me.they have even sent somebody out in a loan car to swap cars over at my house so that i didnt have to worry about trying to get the car back in to them.

this has gone someway to restoring my confidence in them.

i expect that they will tell me tomorrow that yes the battery is fried and that it isnt covered under warranty and they have fitted a new one that i will have to pay

If you sound irate enough they might fit a new battery FoC for you.... it might also be worth objecting to extra miles it puts on the car - how far is your local dealer away from you?

Have a look at eTyres.co.uk - lowest prices on car tyres, van tyres, 4X4 tyres & car batteries mobile tyre fitting service and figure out how much a new battery should cost and ensure they don't over charge you for it. Looks to be about £75 - etyres - Search Results but I have no idea if they prepresent good value for money or not!

sending someout out in a loan car is something that I could only dream of with my local dealer!

Loan car, paahh they don't even bother phoning you back hey Matt ;)

They phoned to asked me when I was bringing the loan car back (as I was driving back to the place!), but never bothered to tell me that they had finished looking at my car, and then charged me

I know who the stars are :P

Did i tell you there is a new one vuagely around your neck of the woods matt?

Mmm, yep - Meadens Skoda

Meadens Skoda, New and Used Skoda Dealer, Sway, Hampshire, UK

I am just waiting to hear some reports about their quality of service - they would have to be really rubbish to be worse than who I am talking about above. I must give them a call about changing my shocks....

This looks to be one of their cheaper cars -

cant believe that this is still not sorted.i have received a letter from the service department this morning saying that the warranty company have refused to pay for the wiring harnesses as they wont pay for anything that is damaged as a result of something else going wrong and therefore i have to pay the

what do people think that i should do:(

This now appears to be a cicvil dispute over work done and money now owed. If they stated in the first place that they would fix it at no cost to you then you are quite right not to pay. It appears that they have made a mistake and are trying to get you to pay now that they know they cannot claim the money back.

Stick to your guns and refuse to pay. It will cost them more to try to recover the money. Tell them you'll see them in Court. You didn't authorise the work and you were told you didn't owe anything at the time (if that is correct), therefore, you owe nothing.

Or meet them half way and save any pain as £30 is probably about an hour of your time.

detail all that has happened to skoda customer services then don't let it go until you get what you want. if you keep bombarding them with letters e mails phone calls they soon get fed up with it and give in, and refund you what it has cost. it works most times. I even spent a week chasing ebay for a 1p refund just out of principal.

don't let them away with it as they wont improve things if they don't know what's wrong

best of luck

thanks all and the matter has now been resolved.service manager rang me earlier and said that after looking in more detail at the way that i had been messed around he felt that i was quite right to be upset about it and that he would forget about the bill:rolleyes:even tried to make it sound as if he was doing me a favour:rofl:
