VW Lupo 1.9 TDI 3L, 4motion - 12 second 1/4 mile

Featured Replies

Its an awesome car. Seen it on TDIclub. A well tuned up pd130 engine in it, and combined with 4WD makes for a great 1/4 mile car.

So is it a 3L Lupo (lighter for improved economy) with the engine ripped out and replaced with the pd130?

Quite a lot of work to get the 4motion stuff fitted I'd have thought, as it is the VW golf one, with lupo 3l body shell & tweaked mildly engine fitted?

Fair bit of smoke there..lol

greenpeace would love that one

yeah, the 3L uses 3 litres of diesel to do 100km, lots of alu panels, weirdly shaped rear hatch, smoother front end and taller gears :)

surely it would be quicker if it was fwd rather than 4..?

Errrr, no.

HTH.

IF and only IF it could put the power down - thing is, I don't think you'd have a hope of putting that much power down through 2 wheels, especially at the front of the car :D

that car's been doing the rounds for some time now!! i like it

I wonder how smokey mine will end up

Those front wheels in the vid look like the ones from my old Seat Leon that are in the loft right now!

why go to all that trouble and fit a diesel?

surely it would have been just as easy to fit a 225TT lump, remap it and use the 4x4 for a much faster car probably

 true, very true, like fitting a vRS engine in a normal Fa....... ;)

Saw this in the development stages a couple of years ago. Nice little car.

Bet it uses a bit more than 3 litres for that mileage now  and a different gearbox?

Still impressive with the 4motion though

that's not what people were saying not so long ago...;)

Traction would be an issue if it was FWD, especially as something as light as the Lupo.

Hell, traction IS an issue even with a remapped PD130!

Launches are sooooo much better with 4WD.

well the tdi will have much better torque and i bet it will still be quite good on juice.

+ its always nice smoking a petrol car in a diesel

Smoking is a good choice of words there :)
