Brake Pads

Featured Replies

Anyone know if you can buy uprated Brake Pads (or discs) for an Octy II 2.0 TDI elegance just yet.

I'm not looking to do it, just looking at it from a comparison point of view with other cars.

Thanks

Mine are due to be replaced soon and have been informed that Ferrodo make a decent set for the OctyII but I'm affraid I do not have any reference numbers for them.

Im wondering the same here! Considering disks and pads!

mintex do uprated ones for the octy 2

Hi

We have kept a certain MkII in Tarox

These are good discs and pads

We can also get ZeroSixty discs , these are quite a bit cheaper than Tarox

But I myself would keep clear of Green Stuff , myself and others have had problems with them warping discs

Hope that helps

Hi Sarah,

Are these any good on stock discs, and if so how much would a full set of pads all around cost.

Thanks

Oooh

Thanks Dave , another thumbs up ;)

Nice

The 288`s on yours are the same pads for the 312`s , same as the mk1 Octy`s

So the price of the front ones are £79.00 + VAT and the rears are £61.00 + VAT

These are Tarox Strada pads , as used by Shifty ;)

Yeah, regularly!

Is that the latest compound? I ran some Greenstuff's in the past and they warped my discs but apparently this has now been rectified. Saying that, why anyone would pick the Green's over the Redstuff is beyond me

Chris

Hi

To be honest , I would not know , but the problem is , would you risk it?

There are other makes out there to try , why bother?

Sorry

Based on the write ups the latest ones have been getting, yes I would ;)

So the Octy II Elgance spec has 288mm brakes and the same set up at the 312mm octy I?

Hmm i wonder does the 312 conversion fit :P

Guys, silly question but, would fitting your own brake pads invalidate the warranty on the car ?

Hi Mate

NO it wont as long as you dont damage anything and expect it to be covered under warrany.

The 288`s are the same pads as the Mk2 Ocy`s 312mm

These have the 5 X 112`s stud pattern

Sarah

Ok thanks, so if I change the pads and the car goes in for its next service, still under warranty at this point, the garage won't say anything ? Just want to be sure

With the introduction of block exemption you do not need to take your car in to a dealer to keep up with warranty

As long as the garage is VAT registered and use of equal quality parts then warranty will not be effected

You can put on your own parts like brake pads and that will not effect the warranty either unless you damage something while you are doing it , then that will invalidate the warranty on the connecting part

Fitted OK then not a worry

So can i get this right sarah, which Octy has the 312mm Discs, the MK I VRS did i know, but what about the MK II.

I'm just wondering of the possibility of a conversion from stock brakes on an elegance to VRS brake set up, esp with a crashed VRS TDI just appearing at a certain breakers yeard.

I guess what i am asking is can i 312mm convert these and if so which parts would i need to buy and how much labour would it be?

Thanks

Thanks for the info Sarah, much appreciated
