Cost to have 2nd Rear Foglight turned on

Featured Replies

Had to take the Octy in for some warrentew work and asked if they could turn on the Nearside Rear Fog Light while it the car was in.

They said it would take 30 mins and wanted to charge

Does the light cluster on the other side have the bulb and holder in place?

If it does it would almost certainly need a couple of extra wires running across to it so charging you for the labour involved is fair enough.

I doubt it's something that could just be enabled on the ECU

I thought I had seen on here somewhere that it was possible in VAG-COM.

Oooh , looks like I was wrong.

Might have to get that turned on on mine

When I get my car PDI'd they have to mess around with the controllers to set up the Xenons, do you think, if I ask the dealer nicely, they will enable twin fog lights and anti-hijacking whilst they are at it?

Join Freedom and a local Vag-Com boffin should do it for nowt!

A word of warning though, I believe that you can only do it with '07 models, tried it on mine ('06 car) and no go so far!.

It works on mine, we probably should look at yours again Steve.

Good project for you now you have a cable. :P

Going to bring it with me tomorrow so you can look over my shoulder to make sure I don't do anything catastrophic!.

Ok, have you put that capture program on that I sent you?

Thought European legislation now demands one rear fog light only must be fitted, but can't find a reference.... Idea is that twin fogs can look like brake lights. Can anyone confirm/refute this?

New Renault Megane (my company car) still comes with two fog lights on the back.

Is it worth it for the distinct lack of fog we have in this country??

Why would anyone want two fog lamps on at the same time? They are dangerous as they distract from brake lights. They make it difficult to see when traffic has stopped or slowed down ahead.

I think the only half decent fog lamps are the ones in the middle of the bumper, like on 206's.

I have only ever been in fog so thick once in 20 years that required the use of them.

I hate them!!!

Why would anyone want two fog lamps on at the same time? !!!

So people behind can see that it's a car ahead and not a motorcycle.

That obviously depends on where you live and where you drive.

Motorcycles don't have fog lamps

Granted, I live in the south, I don't know if there is more or less foggy days the further north you go.

The reason I wanted the NS Rear Fog light turned on was because I will be driving on the continent next month and I have told the LAW in some countries frown on UK cars with only the 'near side' Fog Light.

Have just signed up to Freedom having been a Briskodian for the past 6 months and got a lot of useful tips and advice.

If there is anyone within 10 miles or so that could help me out I would appreciate it and cover any costs.

Fair comment :)
