Relay problems

Featured Replies

Hi everyone!

This is my first posting! Straight to the point: I have recently entered the world of skoda's (bought a second hand felicia- more than happy with it). On e problem I have at the moment is:

1) my headlights have stopped working

2) my full beam won't come on

3) my side lights, indicators and flash beam are working just fine!

So currently I am driving round with my front fog lights on - not the best. A work colleague suggested it could be a relay in the fuse box that needs replacing. However I do not know what relay is what.

Help please!

if the flash beam is working i would suggest it is either both headlight bulbs blown and/or the switch broken

Make sure you're switching the sidelight switch on first. The headlight button only works once the other one is on.

Thanks Red Studio. I didn't realise that was the case - that I needed to put on the side lights first. I have checked on this and the problem remains. Onwards and upwards! Thanks again for the advice and the enlightenment!

Hi Teflon Tom. Thanks for the advice. As am sure you can tell by the thread I'm not a 'car' person although I do love my little felicia - particularly when substandard cars see the skoda badge and think they can take the **** - how wrong they are! Anyways... I will check the bulbs next - I know it may sound like an obvious thing to do (checking the bulbs) but I was a little confused by the combination of problems. I hope it's the bulbs because I can probably cope with that but the switches are another ball game for me. Thanks again.

It's usually the sidelight switch, we jumped to this conclusion last week on our van, after struggling in the dark replacing it with the dash out the lights still didn't work. They worked fine with the fusebox open - it turned out to be a loose plug on the fusebox.

:iagree: obviously you should check the fuses first
