Millers Diesel Power Sport 4

Featured Replies

Well what can I say, this stuff does what it says on the tin

Been useing it for 3 weeks now in my Golf 1.9 TDI (105bhp) and can report that;

1) mpg is up from 46mpg to 49mpg per week - that's over 250-300 miles per week covering everything from Motorway to City Centre crawl

2) The engine tick's over a lot more smoothly, very noticable when its cold or ideling

3) Definatly a more mid range punch :D

The above has all come from running with Shell Diesel Extra, which I have used in the car since day 1

Cool - I think I'll buy some of this. I've got about 2 measures of Power Plus left that the guy I bought the vRS from gave me, and this sounds better reading from here.

Ignore - Threads now merged

And where can I find this marvellous product ?!?

Seriously, went to my local halfords and nada, zip. Loads of stuff for petrol engines but they always seem to turn their noses up to the derv variety :(

Admin note: merged the other millers power sport 4 thread with this one :)

I've been using Millers Diesel plus for 5+ years in my previous car (Omega TD) and my wife's present car (Doblo JTD) to good effect but my own car has recently been a Fabia 1.4 into which I have been putting Shell Optimax & V-power.

I have now got an Octavia vRS TDI (with Particlate filter) into which I am putting Shell Diesel V-power.

I can understand using Diesel Power Sport 4 to sex-up and improve the cetane rating of 'regular' diesel, to get better performance/economy but Shell V-power diesel already has a higher/upgraded cetane rating so will it be worth using Dieesl Power Sport 4 as well?

I've started using Sport4 in conjunction with Shell V-Power Diesel, and yes it does spice it up a bit....

Don't know about the economy, but mid and top end power feels noticeably better.

Encouraging news.

I always used Optimax/v-power petrol in my Fabia and immediately noticed if ever I went down to regular unleaded. I would from time to time used Miller's Octane plus that, on top of v-power, didn't really see to do anything.

Its good to know that v-power diesel + sport4 gives you a bigger bang!!

I'm halfway through my first bottle so early days yet. Seems to be a little less smoke if anything. My driving's been a bit random over the past couple of weeks too so not really able to measure MPG differences.

Wish I had the option of V-Power Diesel, still only seems to be avilable down South....

In answer to your question I'd still put the Millers in with it and see how it went, the benefits are claimed to be more than just performance related :)

Shell Diesel Extra 'seems' to make the vRS run better than other fuels I've tried (I've not tried V-Power though).

I have just ordered a 500ml bottle to try in my wifes A3 130 tdi sport.

We have had it from new and its done 70k miles of hard driving on the cheapest fuel we can find  so I hope to notice a difference.

A service, Better fuel, Millers Sport 4 and a new K&N panel filter should give the old girl a new lease of life:thumbup: (and I meen the car not the wife)

Will let you all know

You never know, try it on the wife and let us know how you get on

Just ordered a bottle, hope its as good as you people say! ;)

Been using Diesel Power Sport 4 for my last half dozen tank fulls (450 miles per tank) in my Octy vRS TDI fuelled on Shell V-power, and it is hard to say if there is a definite power boost. I have no benefit in economy that I can see, and if anything this is marginally worse, but I am driving a bit harder at the moment and have had more congestion (that hammers the consumption) recently.

Difficult to form a conclusion.

However, my last and current tanks of fuel are minus DPS4 to try and get a comparison. We'll see ....

I believe there is a plateau for performance so if you keep chucking cetanes there comes a certain level when it makes no difference.

Chris

This is true, Cetane rating is basically how burnable the fuel is and the ECU deal with this by altering the injection timing. It can only take this so far.

Chris

I knew this held true for Petrol and Octane (RON) rating; but wasn't sure about Diesel.

I guess I might stick to V-Power on its own then or go down to shell regular diesel plus DPS4; decisions, desciosns, .....

Have to agree, I've been useing Millers with Shell Diesel Extra for 6 months now, and I have seen a noticable increase in throtle response and mpg.... now for the first time ever I put a double dose in this week (as Millers say you can do for EVEN MORE POWER :D )...... not a jot of difference  , if anything the engine and throtle response seemed less smooth than just on the single dose.

I think if I were to go down the Shell V Power Derv route I wouldn't bother with the Millers :)

I tried it with a tank of Vpower diesel and found if anything it lost performance a little.

Works well with BP Ultimate of Shell Extra. Also smooths out normal diesel pretty well.

Chris

I've tried BP ultimate in the past and not noticed enough of a difference to stick with it (plus I'm tight), having said that I've always favoured standard Shell over others...but I've just ordered a 500ml bottle of this stuff on the strength of this thread - I'm going halves with my Dad (a real sceptic - refers to all additives as 'snake oil') who's got a Mondeo TDCi. Here's hoping...

That's ok, apparently all Fabia VRS owners are tight ;)

His sceptisim in BP ultimate is well founded

but Millers PS4 does work. You need to use it for a few tanks to get it working well though

Nice :D

Two things which may be of use: 1) this stuff has a 'best before date', iirc 1 year. A 5 litre can may last beyond this on normal mileages. 2) I asked Millers what was best, cheap fuel (supermarket) with single dose of Millers, cheap fuel (supermarket) with double dose of Millers [thereby giving them the opportunity to suggest a route which would lead to them selling twice as much] or Shell diesel with a single dose. They recommended Shell with a single dose.
