It has peizo injectors, a different turbo and a different map at the least....

No way is that car in the photo a diesel.

No way is that car in the photo a diesel.

What in your infinate wisdom makes you think that?.

Go for it fella, why not? I have seen a TDi vRS in my local dealer on demo with green calipers, unless of course you mean because the diesels aren't quick enough to crash like that ;) :P :P :)

I have a feeling he works in a dealership ;)

That may be so but how can you tell whether or not it's a diesel?. As far as I know the ONLY way to tell is by looking at the Rev Counter!.

And on the Inside of the filler cap it will say Diesel or the minimum RON for petrol

Or the registration number and doing a online check.

The bloke at skospares assured me it was a TDI, so bearing in mind they have the car I would guess they know.

As said the only give away apart from a reg plate check is the rev counter, the fuel filler cap, or to look at the engine bay.

Well I've bought the wheels and tyres so let's hope they're not jinxed! :)

Just need to decide do I keep the SP Sports (9,000 miles) on or swap them with the Potenzas (16,000 miles) that I have on my tired and scruffy alloys at the moment? I haven't had SPs on a car before so don't know if they will be much different to the Bridgestones.

Did you get them for a good price?

I would suggest asking them to mark the tyres from the front..

Reason I say is that the car only comes with a steel space saving or steel spare for 17" wheels and above.

If that is the case I would want to change the front tyres as they may have flat spots from the emergency fail to stop and the bumper coming back may have caused some damage to them.

I was considering it, but can't afford the insurance increase or the £400 for 4 new wheels lol.

cheezemonkhai - thanks for the advice, appreciate it a lot! There's 3 used alloys (all unmarked) and one brand new so maybe one "used" wheel was damaged and the unused one is/was the spare. The 2 tyres on the back (least worn) should be sound and the unused spare 100%. I'll find out soon enough when I pick them up.

Sounds like a deal not to be missed.

Sorry if this is in the wrong place :)

Saw that and it is a crashed Octy II VRS TDI.

Guessing some parts out of there might be useful to people wanting to make the Elegance etc look like a VRS.

they have got another vrs 2001 in black has just been listed today

So why is it written up as an FSI?

New arrivials for dismantling by Skoda Spares

I suppose that would answer the TDi/green caliper question.

Just got back from a visit to SkoSpares.

That Silver Octy is very interesting, is ex local authority and has lots of holes drilled in it

I can confirm it is now missing one or two bits though :P

Do you recon I could bodge the wing mirrors onto a Fabia? I quite like the indicator on the wing mirrors, seems odd but I think its quite classy and would finish the outside off my car off well.

Are the seats still in it? And in what condition?

I'm usually pretty calm on here, but I'm failing to understand the problem so many people are having understanding the green/red caliper thing.

As many have already said it has nothing to do with diesel/petrol, they were switched from green to red at the beginning of the 07 model year.

The interior has been removed. There is a picture on their website.

Thanks Makefish!

I think the debate isn't about the callipers colour, but more about the fact that it may or may not be a TDi.The vRS TDi was be built in the '07 MY, so the callipers should be red. But, the ones on this car are green, suggesting that it's a petrol, as stated on the breakers web site. However, some people have driven a TDi with green callipers, contradicting the belief that the TDi was solely a
