In my Scoob, the numbers ran out at 160 and the needle was beyond straight down and heading for 0 again, and still accelerating. (trip to Germany)

As a passenger in a mates 996 RUF Twin Turbo (565bhp/595 lb/ft) when the trip showed maximum speed reached as 201.7mph. (I wasn't driving, so it doesn't matter where)

In my sales directors 360 I hit 8.5k revs in 5th, but I still haven't been told what speed that is. (track, honest)

TBH, top speed doesn't do it for me. I'd rather be on a series of complex twisties with a balanced chassis, killer suspension and adequate power.

166mph. Were in the new toy at the time going to a job, didn't necessarily need to use the straight (clear and dry)three laned route we took, did prove quicker though for some reason.

Took a Talbot Tagora V6 off the clock down the Lewes bypass in the early eighties. Clock went up to 140mph I think. Not many of them left now, and I suspect this is not a surviving example either.

Indicated 135mph in the vRS

Didnt realise, i had run out of revs in 5th, put it into 6th gave a few more seconds of throttle, looked and saw that speed, so backed off sharpish -still had around 1-1200 revs left though... ;)

All this whilst slowly opening the gap between me and the rep in his ST220 behind... :D

Sure it was a rep and not the Fuzz ;)

Yeah, he looked like a penis, so it was obvious... :P:rofl:

And i wouldnt have had the vRS long enough to blow up if it was the 5-0... :D

135mph - Cavalier 2.0 16v

130mph - Mondeo TCDI tuned to 150bhp, hit the rev limiter in 5th gear at 130mph and the tuning box tripped out and cut the power:rofl:

125mph - Octavia VRS, in fourth gear yesterday when the plastic sump guard broke half its fixings and started dragging on the floor - I thought the gear box had gone and slowed down very fast....

189MPH (on timing gear)- Modified CBR1100XX Superblackbird, Runway, RAF Gutersloh (Well, after it was handed to the army), speedo indicating 200mph, large log in trousers had more left but needed to brake (it was a comic releif "run what ya brung arranged by the Military Police, aka Monkeys :D ).

Car, not so quick as I am a much better rider than a driver, current mk2 octy vRS, 162mph indicated on the talex at an undisclosed location.

I want to crack 200mph on the bike so am thinking about buying one of the final edition Hayabusa's and chopping in the much loved triumph and xr hooligan tool.

Ooh close 177 on a GSXR1000 K3 (sniff!):amb:

120+ in one of the original Audi 200 Quattros aged about 5.

125 on my ZXR400

130+ on my mates CBR600 (stopped looking at the speedo)

High speeds are not as much fun as acceleration to me. If I could afford a toy I'd have something like a Caterham Superlight or an Arial Atom. Nothing is as much fun as a bike but SWMBO says I'm not allowed or I'd have a SpeedTriple.

Ariel Atom... Mmmmmm.

Did 125 (indicated) in my Passat this morning, just to help bed the turbo back in. :P

About 155mph when my mum was driving a Jenson Interceptor and she was preggy with me.

Oooh.... lovely... i love it when women... esepcially mums and oldies have big powerful cars and drive em like they should!... saw an elderly lady the other day giving her Jaguar XJS V12 some ****!!!

What engine was it??? 5.9... 6.3... or 7.2??????!!!!!

Army days.... I was in an air defence unit in the RA, and we did a week with the RAF using their planes as targeting practice out of RAF Leeming. Managed to bag my self a back seat ride near the end of the exercise.
