Engine falling out, remap to blame...

Featured Replies

Because if the remap!

Sorry to hear this! What does the well-known tuning company suggest?

oops..... I had an uno turbo once with a bleed valve and 150bhp.... that used to snap the gearbox mount every 5000 miles! lol...

I wouldnt waste 190 quid on it - get a custom bracket done by someone good instead to solve the problem properly. What's the point in replacing it with a known weak point

Im going to have to think about changing mine then as it is running 430lbft+ and it is still on all the original bolts/brackets :o think of the stress that is putting on them  mind you though it has done nearly 2000 miles like it with no hassle

Mine's still on pd100 mounts. Had no issues at all.

I know of uprated dogbone mount bushes, but not sure on the atctual engine mounts themselves. Would be nice to know if something exists to replace them. :)

I have seen the engine mount go on the vRS with standard engine , no remap at all

So it is a common thing for the engine mount to go.....

Sorry

Sarah

Any uprated ones available Sarah?

Hi WW

Not that I am aware of.

I will look around on my travells and see if I can find any , but I dont think either that the part got superceeded

Sarah

Not long after I got my car I lost an engine mount bolt. Yes lost. It went AWOL.

So wouldnt really blame the remap. More like the garage is blaming it because they can. I assume the ibiza cupra tdi has the same mounts and probably the same power output.

Thanks for looking :)

Yes Ibiza has same mound , same problem too

I have seen a few of them fail

So I would agree with the above , I know for a fact that I have done them under warranty , as I had to do a hire car for the customer as the part was on back order , so remap to blame......mmmm dont think so

Sarah

Hellfire,

What were the signs that made you check this? Anything we should watch out for etc.

Just info for fellow fabia owners that are re-mapped or possible might not be

On my car when you depressed the clutch their was a clonking noise. Also under hard acceleration their was a loud vibration coming from the engine bay. Sounded like the exhaust was cathcing somthing.

there are no uprated mounts available...

and TBH hellfire the dealer is fobbing you off... its a common problem..

problem now fixed, had to pay for it & car is up for sale as i need a family vehicle :)

My driver's side engine mount bolt snapped shortly after buying the car new, then last week the same horrible noise appeared and I found that the bolt had undone itself and had gone awol under the engine somewhere.

The AA put a washer and bolt on to temporarilly fix the problem and get me home without the engine falling out!

Ha ha, I used to have something similar (Uno Turbo 2 with the bleed valve. Boost gauge went right round the clock and got stuck!) which was fine till I part ex

I thought Santa Pod tyre warming antics was to blame for my engine mount problem. Drivers side mounting bolt and the nut securing it sheared off completely. Had it replaced under warranty at the beginning of the month.

Yep, common fault. You have been fobbed off matey. One of mine broke not so long back. As sarah has said, they are common on non mapped cars too.
